thats not entirely accurate.
they were comparing hunting/animal cruelty to the whipping of horses (rather than horse racing itself) - and there were individuals defending said whipping practice.
incidently i dont believe you can directly compare the two - however i disagree with both. |

I disapprove of hunting animals for pleasure, especially "trophy hunting" of harmless animals such as giraffes, but hunting is legal in most countries so Kroenke isn't actually doing anything wrong, although I hope Kroenke's ill advised business venture flops.. However, the idea of people boycotting Arsenal as a result of this venture is absurd. You might as well boycott West Ham because you disapprove of pornography or Ipswich Town because you disapprove of ticket touting.
The USA has a gun & hunting culture. Energies would be better expended on encouraging them to change their absurd gun laws. |  |

This is absolutely correct. Hunting is a hugely popular participation sport throughout the world - far more popular than football. It performs a vital conservation function. It teaches discipline and control to kids as well as helping them understand nature.

Hunting endangered species may be legal in some countries - that doesn't make it acceptable or OK.
Slavery was legal in the UK a couple of hundred years ago; apartheid was legal in S. Africa less than 30 years ago. Would you say the proponents of those things weren't "doing anything wrong"? | |

I prefer meat eaters to be consistent in all honesty. If people don't give a sh1t then whatever, I don't agree but at least it's not having double standards when it comes to animals.
The ones who are bothered by things like hunting or animal testing really should be more receptive to any lifestyle choices that may help them understand they are failing their own beliefs and consider changes to reflect them better. Sadly what you get in return is a barrage of denial and/or abuse.

What does the fact whether a species is endangered or not have to do with it? Are you saying blood sports are fine if there is an abundance of prey?
I'm not a fan of any blood sport tbh but I would be a rank hypocrite to start signing petitions and condemning the practice when I am quite happy to have animals killed to feed myself.
Speaking of which, I was at Carfest North this weekend and they had Yorkshire Wagyu Beef in the food hall. Very tasty. Have you tried it as the company are based in your neck of the woods. [Post edited 2 Aug 2017 15:54]

Suffice to say that I do not support any bloodsports done for "fun" (incl fishing), and only eat meat/eggs that have been ethically produced, whether farmed venison, beef or eggs from the animals I can see wandering around in the fields locally. | |
