I predict 475 for the Aussies and then having a bowl at us tonight.
For the Aussies to win with the time remaining after that, that would probably require them getting us out for less than 250 and then chasing down 200 in the last two days.
Very doable.
Our second innings first four batsman need to stay in until lunch time on day four at the very very least. I think.

It's quite clear that the differences in this series are
a) Smith
b) Pace
c) A spinner who can spin the ball
Our attack are trying wilfully but they look so unthreatening out there. No doubt, we'll have whoever is touring here in May (Pakistan I believe) 70-6 at lunch at Chester-le-Street and this tour will be forgotten.
We absolutely must start encouraging some young bowlers to bowl fast as outside the UK and possibly NZ, we are just completely nullified.
Do English players still play in other countries in the off season? They certainly used to but I suppose several of them now play the pyjama stuff instead for the bucks. |

Alli with a nice delivery. A rare good ball after being immediately smashed for consecutive boundaries in his first over as Root gives the quicks some rest before the new ball in 6 overs time.

The current sky lot are great. I miss Bumble, Nasser, Athers, Michael Holding and even Shane Warne!
Of the BT group, Gilly is excellent. Boycott is entertaining to listen to as well. Ponting is decent too.

He led Gilly to believe that Broad had told him this morning before the days play that the England bowlers were angry with the batsman for throwing away the bigs advantage we had early in this test.
Eventually, he said that 'he never actually told me. I'm just inferring' after Gilchrist questioned why Broad was telling outsiders about problems in camp.
Swann randomly bringing it up in the first place was suspect.

💯 up for Smith. A fantastic century from a fantastic batsman.
Unlike with Root, the captaincy has made Smith even better than what he was.
Yes this could be a tough day to watch. Though I think I've found a decent vetting angle on the Aussies scoring over a certain run rate in blocks of 15 overs. They're clearly going to continue at more than 3 an over. So at least I should make a bit of cash out the misery that will be Australian boundaries.
I predict a draw. As I said back on day 1 of the test match. |

Oh dear, what a prat indeed. Also apparently came out with this gem this morning re Root - whether he's right or not is another discussion, but saying it at a pivotal point inn the middle of the 3rd Test ..!

I do think there's a debate to have about Root as captain - Smith has improved his average by about 15 since he took the role but it's not for everyone. However, the suggestion of Broad is laughable!
