Courtney Barnett - Great shout.. Some truly wonderful music amongst her full catalogue

In terms of debuts I really like The Sherlocks: Live for the Moment.

A little left field perhaps but spent the whole year listening to an artist called: 'Parks, Squares and Alleys' and the album "Against Illusions and Reality" is beautifully constructed and one of my favorites of the past few years

The Sherlocks are playing Norwich Waterfront in early Feb.

Got tickets for their Camden gig, looking forward to it immensely.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

Seen them a few times.. Brilliant live and a great bunch of down to earth lads to boot, met them after a gig and seemed like your average blokes who just enjoyed playing music (and just so happened to be pretty good at it)

That Courtney + Kurt album is a wonderful bit of work.
When I heard they were going to do an album together, I was fascinated to hear how the results would sound.

Over Everything is my track of the year. Lovely stuff.

I hate it, gotta be honest, both of their voices grate on me so combined it just annoys me!

Oh no, I love Courtney Barnett (in particular). She could sing the phone book and I'd love it.

Wolf Alice - Visions Of A Life

How am I the only person in this thread to nominate Wolf Alice? Not even one measly up arrow!

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

2 or 3 absolute belters and the whole album itself is well worth a listen, but I'm not too sure I'd put it up there with some of the others mentioned.

Still a steady 7 or 8 out of 10, but found myself having spells of being obsessed with it to then moving on quite quickly again.

There's not enough French electronica here for my liking.

Drowned In Sound made it their album of the year, Q had it at number 2 and NME number 3.

Given that, I'm amazed that I'm the only vote for it in a 3 page thread on here.

Each to their own though, obviously.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

I'll be honest. I listened to it a couple of times when it came out and really liked it, but just haven't given it enough time yet to put it up in my list.

That's one of the problems with pulling together a list, sometimes you discover things late in the year (or even the next year) far too late to give full consideration to.

The Drowned In Sound list is great and has introduced me to plenty of additional albums already, but I'm still only a fraction of the way through it...

The Killers - Wonderful Wonderful

Probably not album of the year, but good nonetheless! Pretty sure the lead single 'The Man' was just named Radio 1's hottest track of the year if that helps.
