I would have said The Constant Gardener for a while and then something else. I liked the LOTR when they came along cos I loved the book as a kid and the LOTR film that came out then was some awful semi-animated crap. The 'recent' ones really brought it all to life. Seen them a few times - bored now.

After the first, I came out of the cinema and said " they had to get a ring somewhere and they havn't managed to do it " I saw the others and after 9 hours they get the ring somewhere. I switch off during fight scenes ( in any genre ) and wondered if they lost the fighting in the 3 LOTR there might be an interesting 1/2 hour of film. I havn't managed more than 15 minutes of the Hobbits.

I regret only seeing Return of the King in the cinema. They were films that needed the big screen. That said, they're still very very good films. Haven't watched the Hobbit, didn't really fancy it. Of the new films out, I've been generally disappointed. The Meg was terrible, didn't like Solo, saw Dunkirk on Sky the other evening and didn't think much of that tbh. It's a shame 'cos they spend loads more money just making endless super hero movies. That said, my mate liked Incredibles 2 and Tel's always going on about how good the new Ant Man is.

I thought Dunkirk was superb. Almost like a documentary with actors rather than a movie. I'm glad it wasn't a typical Hollywood blockbuster with a love interest and all that sh!t. It does seem to divide people though.
