I did chuckle at the EADT article from when their licence was revoked, where it would probably have been shorter to list the things that they were doing correctly rather than laws broken!

Circa 2006 - 2008 was peak Grinning Rat. Not a bad spot for a pint or 2 on a bit of a crawl, but that's when I was young and single and a night out in town was full of promise. | |

Was even better when it was a rock pub with live bands on the brewary killed to put the landlords in who made it a gay venue and then they had to change ownership again when that failed to make money. Thankfully Ipswich now has the Smokehouse for live music but we all miss the old Rat, rammed every night, great original bands, barman a Town fan, twtd. The people who had it after tried it again but the place was full of racist idiots after that so no one went. |  | | |
