This isn't a dig at anyone, or even the broader discussion of politics on TWTD, but a wider look at the way the world communicates politics. Isn't it almost heartbreaking how the most engaging discussions stem from someone posing criticism of an opposing point of view evolving into heated debate, rather than people highlighting the positives of someone they support then evolving into political debate.
I am in no way immune to this myself, but it is staggering how this conduct is 'the norm' for the politicians, and how it filters down to the civilians too. I am not trying to start a revolution here, but surely someone, somewhere, happens to be more emboldened by the good they see in their own party rather than the vitriol they hold for the other.

sometimes the ping-pong is light hearted and I know I can be rather brash via a keyboard
I don't think there isn't any ill will on the board. Lot's of raised eyebrows I am sure
Occasionally things come to blows on here, and usually all sides of the argument get a black eye when that happens, but on the wider social media platforms it is astonishing how rancorous some get because their beliefs are more focused on their perceived short comings of someone else's.

Well that depends. If you tell us what policies would you like to see a party advancing, then we may be able to make some suggestions. What are you looking for that you feel is lacking?
Not sure. My flagship policy of banning pensioners from supermarkets evenings and weekends doesn't actually bother me now I can go shopping any time.

That was the one issue that you had cross forum support on!
Seriously though, I don't actually know what your political beliefs are.

One second, young man and I'll show you the sort of thing we do to help our fellow citizens... Gimme a moment (it's not a dick pic)....
The picture below shows the sort of information we produce and hand out to our fellow British citizens who may be unfairly targeted by the authorities, which tells them their rights under the law in black and white plain English.
Many of the areas we distribute such material are obviously very ethnically diverse, and many people don't speak the best of English, so informing them of their rights is v important in such a 'hostile environment'.
Aside from that sort of thing, I've been at more demos than you've had free bet referrals, worked for both the Labour and Green parties, been involved in the organisation of fundraising events for Amnesty, MSF, etc, and tried to encourage lazy fckers like you to get out and vote when it matters.

All very admirable. Nothing to do with being lazy though is it? There is no party I want to vote for.

What are your political beliefs? Maybe there is a candidate who is aligned with you, if not the party as a whole.

Then BE the candidate. That's the point.
That's why I'm trying to get to the bottom of what J2 wants and what he feels is lacking. J2, are you in the Ipswich constituency? If so what are you after that you feel none of the five candidates are offering?

Isn't that the slogan for those Virtual Backbencher series of games btw?

At the risk of sounding like a troll, that is what Lord Bucket head did. Whilst it is silly and fun, his gimmick gave him a stage to convey his beliefs to a wide audience, even if it is satirical in its delivery.
249 votes too.
Edit: "It will be a sh*t show" .... I mean, parody or not, that is exactly what it has been.

Not sure it's worth getting into with someone who definitely won't agree.
Just for example, we have rarely if ever seen a discussion of the positives from being part of the EU. The positives of a socialist/social democratic balance to free-market capitalism. A sustainable and equitable world economy. Looking forward to the future rather than fearing it.
With this adversarial and defensive politics, we make simple and poorer choices seem like a way forward. Regardless of where that takes us.

Fair point.
All I'm sayin', J2, is that I feel enough people don't participate or even inform themselves enough about our democracy. Democracy is a responsibility. How little people knew about our relationship with the EU, and still do, is a case in point.
We owe it to each other to know this stuff and to act where we can.
Otherwise it's just like the fckng X-Factor, where everyone sits back on the couch and votes for the least worst thing.
Didn't really mean it as a dig at you but people aren't getting enough out of what they're allowed or could make happen, with effort.

Also i'm off out in 20 mins so maybe another time
Fair enough. I didn't want to debate those beliefs, just see if there was anyone out there who was offering what you wanted.
Christ knows what you believe if you think it's worse than the stuff on here every day though!

It's not worse.
If anything it would probably be a mix of conservative policies with some from Corbyn's Labour. Where the hell that would fit in, I don't know.
It does sound like you could make a case for running as an independent.

Sadly that is part and parcel of it, no matter what party you are with, on some issues you have to learn to "eat poo and like the taste of it", but then the others you generally agree with must be seen as a way of outweighing the balance.
There is not one party out there that probably satisfies a citizen with the entirety of its manifesto, except possibly the Brexit party who have a very focused, dare i say tunnel visioned, manifesto. but as you've seen from the Tories, the tone and foundations of a party can shift overnight with a change in leadership.
Abstaining from politics is a right also, but keep in mind that one unexpected constituent could become an unexpected MP, and that one person can cause a seismic change in the political climate if conditions are right.

You haven’t come into contact with the cyber nats. They are vicious bastards. Underneath that veneer of respectability the Scot nats foot soldiers can be very unpleasant to those who want to remain part of the Union.
In this instance for the SNP shouldn't that be cyber midgies?

Vote for the pro gambler who has never achieved anything!
Definite vote winner.
Don't say you're a pro gambler because then you'll have to start paying taxes!
You could get involved with a grass roots group working in an area you're interested in. Gain experience and traction that way.
