Jess Phillips expected to drop out of the race this afternoon on 08:55 - Jan 22 by itfcjoe | But a New Labour government achieved far more good, than the Conservative Government. Just because this is your worldview it doesn't make it right, you can come up with all your reasons as to why you think it is, and a myriad of reasons as to why you think it is the media's fault but the reality is if people wanted that then it would be happening - not going the other way Have you ever considered that you are wrong? |
He might be right, and we're all wrong. There are enough indicators around about social equality and poverty despite an ever richer world to at least make that a posibility. I find it hard to criticise someone like DC who wants a better world based on fairness. It's an honest goal, even if people aren't ready for it. Someone has to fight for it. Although they also need to be honest with themselves that it is essentially a protest movement with A LOT of ground to make up.

UNITE and the labour party have no need to learn anything, it is the electorate who are wrong, you know that.

As I said, RLB was no sunrise but I just don’t get the backing for Burgon. He has very little support from his parliamentary colleagues, is the only candidate in the leadership/deputy leader election who has refused to sign the Board of Deputies ten pledges for tackling antisemitism and has used some very problematic language in the past regarding Zionism. Angela Rayner is from the same left wing of the Labour Party but has nine of his baggage. Why endorse him?

Jess Phillips expected to drop out of the race this afternoon on 09:16 - Jan 22 by Darth_Koont | Constantly. That's why I check myself against the evidence available. And of course New Labour achieved more good. But they crucially failed to address structural issues in the UK - and ultimately sell the nation on the need for a more socialist outlook to balance the free-market ethos. Ultimately, that lack of balance meant a failure to re-distribute the benefits of economic growth and left many people and regions largely where they were. Which leads to stuff like a failure to sort out the housing shortage and costs which just pushed that further down the road for someone else to deal with. Or regions and communities stagnating and shrivelling up - and then placing even more pressure on housing and infrastructure in places where there's little space left. The people want Brexit and that's almost entirely down to narrative. Of course, there's a pressing need to disrupt if not change that debate. The key is to know what you are doing and why, and communicate that to get voters to follow you. Not follow the voters where the opposition has taken them. |
You forgot that they brought us P.F.I's too ....god bless'em!

Why are you obsessing about people you don't know? If you analysed BoJo he'd be a clueless antisemitic liar.

I'm not obsessing. I just don't see what Burgon gives Labour as deputy leader that Angela Rayner doesn't. Both from the same wing of the party but Burgon has baggage that Rayner doesn't. Especially with the EHRC report soon to be released, I don't understand the decision. Not making any wider point that you may be looking for.

I think you should take a step back. You've got little to no information and little to no understanding. [Post edited 24 Jan 2020 19:12]

I know he has very little support among his parliamentary colleagues. I know that he used problematic language regarding Zionism and I know he is the only one of the leadership/deputy leader candidates who has refused to sign the Board of Deputies ten pledges to tackle antisemitism (you may agree or disagree with his stance). Taking that aside, please tell me what Burgon brings to the table that Rayner doesn't? [Post edited 24 Jan 2020 19:21]

Angela Rayner wouldn't be my preferred choice. If I was a Labour voter I think I'd be backing Rosena Allin-Khan, who comes across very well when I've seen her on the box. I can see no logical reason for backing Burgon over Rayner considering there is little between them politically and she is baggage free with great support form her parliamentary colleagues.

Well they’ve just basically written off £1m trying to defend Skawkbox against a Labour MP, in any other ‘company’ you’d expect the boss to be falling in his sword soon. That tells you all you need to know about Len’s judgement

And so it begins, an RLB/RB led Labour and he has a new 'target' to replace Corbyn. Expect thread after thread after thread about RB and his "baggage" and how he is a threat and danger to this, that and the other. [Post edited 24 Jan 2020 19:54]

Luckily I am allowed out during the week too. I'd hate to stick to the same old routines ...
