Hurst and Doig gone from Scunthorpe on 20:13 - Jan 29 by jeera | You're not providing balance - you're skewing things. Mick's signing were on larger wages but generally picked up for free or thereabouts. "Had they signed 6 players on 20k a week with no big transfer fees on 2 year deals". So they chose to not take the same approach and it failed. They had enough funding along with what was already at their disposal. And spunked it. It's not really that questionable. |
I’m lucky I guess to be privy to the fact bringing in players on big wages wasn’t an option the owner wanted young investments on smaller wages hence I guess why he appointed them as that was there level The squad they were given wasn’t good enough for the championship- they couldn’t make it good enough with lower league players Could someone else have done it we will never know

Is that the same Championship squad with Webster, Waghorn and Garner, or a different one?

The squad they were 'given' was already established in the bloomin' Championship. That doesn't even make sense. I give up. Happy trolling or whatever you kids call it.

I give up too ur clearly about 4 steps behind here - the fact half the team that had managed to finish lower mid table had either gone or was in the process of going and completely out of their control Is nowhere to be seen in ur wee brain - will leave u be as can’t see past the end of your nose fella | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Look up the squad and cut out the rubbish son. We were a Championship side with the same squad when Hurst took over. This isn't difficult to understand even for a Budgie, or whatever you may be. Edit: Plus more funding. [Post edited 29 Jan 2020 20:51]

I don’t think anyone forced them to spunk the best part of £6m quid on Jackson, Toto and Nolan, Edwards and Harrison, none of which were remotely champ standard. Then with their man management techniques lose the dressing room in 3 months.

How about Bart? What was he worth when they took on the team, clearly was and still is a very good Championship player. With the aforementioned Doig comments and the pathetic treatment prior to the Norwich game, they are probably 90% of the reason we are about to lose a £2m goalkeeper for peanuts. My 9 yr old son would have managed Bart better.

Clearly this kids/budgie/trolling/son stuff is because you don’t agree with my points - it’s ok not to agree you don’t need to try and look big and tough I won’t get upset if you simply say I’m wrong If you think the squad they were given would have been fine in the championship without any additions then it’s conversation over - I said their signings weren’t good enough and they failed yet apparently I’m a supporter of theirs now for not calling them c@nts I fear I could write everything you know about football on the back of a stamp Carry on

Hi Paul/Chris, sorry to hear it didn’t work out at Scunthorpe for you Anything else in the pipeline or planning on taking a break for a while? I hear Chelmsford City just sacked their manager... Cheers Healy

Hurst and Doig gone from Scunthorpe on 19:25 - Jan 29 by oneoffposter | Find this taking joy from 2 men losing their jobs all bit pathetic, it didn’t work out with us as some signings didn’t work out and some players they inherited didn’t like getting some home Truths ie Chambo being told he’s crap Hurst despite not being any good in his time here at least gave it straight in his interviews about performances and players Lamberts everyone’s great/fans amazing chat is a bit patronising and completely lacking in sincerity All I’m saying is I don’t know hurst/doig like I guess 99% on here so calling them C units etc is A bit strong - it’s like Marcus gave them the jobs at gunpoint (doig’s gun) They were headhunted and gave it their best shot when here |
Coming in to a new job and telling the club Captain he is crap IS the behaviour of a pair of w@nkers, so I'll happily pile into calling them that and laughing at their failures. They, alongside Evans mismanagement, have royally fooked our club. They don't deserve sympathy, or another job.

Hurst and Doig gone from Scunthorpe on 19:32 - Jan 29 by footers | Yeah, Premier League stalwart Doig telling Bart he wasn't good enough for the WC was the mark of a top bloke. Both a pair of tw@ts who had Stalin-esque man-management skills. And let's not get started on the underwear stuff. |
It’s a funny story but I’m fairly sure the underwear thing isn’t that uncommon in top level sport Their general man management on the other hand was an absolute disaster, not to mention completely decimating the squad

As part of their conditioning regime, apparently Hurst required that players regularly had pictures taken in their underwear, so changes in their body shape and fat over time could be monitored Rumour has it that a certain player refused and Hurst subsequently refused to play them as a result Coincidentally, a certain forward who has just returned from injury did not feature in the first couple of months of their reign

Hurst and Doig gone from Scunthorpe on 18:01 - Jan 29 by Lord_Lucan | That may not be too far off the mark. If I win the Euro Millions I'm buying Norwich and the first thing I will do is give Hurst and Doig a 10 year contract I'm going to put Delia behind the bar and give Peter Mendham some kind of player family support roll. |
That's a big job for Mendham.

Yup I said we were lower mid table and someone rightfully pointed out we actually finished a flattering 12th. Apologies. My other points were look at the squad they were given and the transfer policy they were instructed to follow by the owner. People talking about their man-management etc as if I was defending this or saying they did well here - but clearly a thirst to gang up on someone with the replies - you go boys some great material The only point you made was ‘they were given an established championship team’ ,go look at the squad they were given son, you said. So just having a quick look now taking out the players who left and those sold before they could play them, sure you used same theory and hands up you were spot on, in fact to eat more humble pie I’ve put a team together that would be a match for any championship side here you go: Bart Spence Chambers Knudsen. Kenlock Skuse. Huws/Adeyemi/bishop Downes or Dozzell. (Pretending 1 was fit) Ward.
