Apparently sacked by ITN for quoting Shakespeare at somebody on twitter who he disagreed with.
Trouble was the quote mentioned an ape and the person he quoted it to was black.
Apparently it's a quote he directs at everyone he believes has said something ignorant and I'm unsure whether he knew the recipient was black.
Don't think it's as black and white (excuse the pun) as the case of Danny Baker. What does TWTD think? |  |

It wasn't.
I don't think either of them see colour, they just see people. Someone mentioned on here a while ago that it was interesting that all the pundits on a football broadcast were black, Glasgow posted that he hadn't noticed and I must admit nor did I.
Ron Atkinson was black and white and despite what he said was way mental I still felt a bit for him as he is just from a different generation. My mum still insists that N**** Brown is a wool colour and my Dad (RIP) was always in a total state of confusion*** as he was bought up to say "Coloured" as "Black" was derogatory back then. He was the least racist man ever but got destroyed one Christmas by my trendy cousin because he liked Al Jolsen.
***I'm convinced that the fact he was buying his electric from British Gas and his gas from an electric company was the end of him. |
The hardest one to understand is how coloured person is offensive whereas person of colour is the correct term (well in January 2020 it is, maybe not in 5 years time) when it is literally the same description phrased in two different ways. |  |

I think we agree that portraying the child of a POC as a chimpanzee is racist, regardless of intent.
So my point was the DB episode was more black and white than that of Alastair a Stewart.

I find it exactly the other way round - 95% fantastically useful, informative, thought-provoking & fun; 5% unpleasant, bigoted trolls. Have been using it for over 6 years, very selective about who I follow & who I allow to follow me. Any abuse or bullying, just completely block - which is more than you can do on here.
Wonderful photography from lovely people literally all over the world who I'd never otherwise have got to engage with, of things I'd never otherwise have seen. Political discussion with & info directly from UK MPs, MEPs, Councillors (& other ppl/politicians from USA, NZ, Aus etc.). Hobbies, art, literature directly published onto Twitter. Global comedy/cartoons/funny animals/pets. Immediate local info such as last-minute road closures. Complaints directly to retailers - which get sorted 10 x faster than normal channels as they hate publicity. Sharing views about TV, radio etc just seen/heard.
The people who dislike it most seem to be mostly people who haven't stuck with it long enough to give it a really fair trial. I'd say it needs at least a year to acquire a good list of people worth following, and who will follow you. Their tweets are then primarily what you will see when you log in (unless you only follow hashtags that interest you). |  |
