The Specials...are you having a laugh......free Nelson Mandela? It's up to you? Concrete Jungle...anti Natonal Front soon? ???? Do your homework!
I am presuming you are actually replying to my post, The Specials were indeed an anti racist band but they were dogged by right wing extremists going to their gigs. Many a gig cancelled halfway through, hence my comments.
Maybe you weren't around at the time.
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”
Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.
Ever since joining this forum one thing I've been proud of is how anything remotely racist is immediately shot down by the good people that post on here.
The OP is, rather sadly it has to be said, using something as repulsive as the picture he posted for nothing more than internet attention. Doesnt sit easy with me.

It’s terrible to see how history has warped through later generations.
That whole 2Tone movement did more for racial harmony than anything else at the time. That’s why the right wing boneheads tried to spoil it. Just like they did at scooter rallies in the 80s too.
There’s mention of Skrewdriver (with a ‘k’) in earlier posts but let us not forget Ipswich had its own dubious band on the Chantry.... Condemned 84.
But also let us not forget that we also had a whole host of Antifa bands and organisations - especially on the hardcore scene... ENT and the like...
As an addendum, and I reference to the photo of bonehead in original post, there appears to be a kid of around 7 years old using a mobile phone. WTF?!?!

Yep. What he said.
You've flagged genuine issues, but making it you against everyone else is dumb as fook, especially when most on here (it IS a lefty bumfest after all) are mostly in agreement with your views.
This place is a bit of rarity being that it is pretty left-wing/remain friendly on the whole, sometimes when I'm a bit bored a do HarryFromBath and have a nose on other team's forums and a fair few are wall to wall Gammon and would be praising the bloke in the OP image as 'taking a stand'.

I think the far right boneheads did purposely disrupt Specials gigs because of the whole racial harmony thing but I also think that some skinheads were a bit thick and didn't understand it.
Madness and The Beat never suffered in the way The Specials did
More importantly I can't make out if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me.

It’s a general comment on what was happening at the time rather than anything you have said specifically.
I assume The Specials had more issues with boneheads than their contemporaries is down to the simple fact that they were more outspoken about the right wing. Like Sham 69 did a short while before.

Yes, I was a big Sham fan and they were massively hit by extremists to the extent that they couldn't play anymore.
JP eventually went nuts and and became a New Romantic.

Sadly Nazis do often gravitate to Punk culture. I have no idea why as most music of that vein openly and often makes it clear they despise their views.

I was busying myself with seeing bands like Echo and the Bunnymen at the time and never caught any Two Tone until I saw The Selector a few years ago but friends who went to see Madness described it as wall to wall British Movement (support act Tenpole Tudor doing a full on greaser wind up despite the cans raining down on them) so The Specials gigs must have been something to be worse than that. Other bands who had gigs severely disrupted at the time were Stiff Little Fingers (when I saw them at The Gaumont on the 'Go For It' tour there was an old school friend of mine and his army mate throwing seig heils ffs) and The Ruts.

Man, Punk back then was a weird and crazy time from the sounds of the stories. I’m glad I’ve not had to deal with that level of sh1t.

This board definitely has a vocal left wing bias, more reds than a Liverpool lineup. the leftwaffe ruin all the political posts on here.
