Bearing in mind you haven't changed your mind on anything since 1997 I'm not exactly surprised

Joey Barton speaking a lot of sense on 11:37 - Mar 4 by Swansea_Blue | I do like how he's admitted his comments about us having our worst ever squad was simply mind games, yet on here people swallowed them whole and used them to 'prove' we have a bad squad. I might be guilt of a self woosh in this, as I can't remember what I said about his previous comments. But it made me chuckle nonetheless. |
Well, to be fair, Can you think of a worse squad in our recent history.... ? :-) 'Worse' is clearly relative, and we've had world-class squads packed full of internationals, but it doesn't necessarily mean bad. In this case, though, I think it really does. We have a mix of injury-prone journeymen, disillusioned youth, over-rated uncreative creative players, loanees who must wonder where the hell they've ended up, and some other squad fillers who are paid for existing. All this led by a passionate but error-prone defender and managed by a PR-Perfect but Tactically-Absent manager. Come on Town!!!!

Joey Barton speaking a lot of sense on 12:00 - Mar 4 by itfcjoe | There is a lot of talk about Southgate's 'collegiate' approach as opposed to an authoratiative approach from likes of Capello etc. Players these days haven't been cleaning boots and banned from senior dressing rooms and car parks, those days are gone where they are made to 'prove' themselves and maybe Lambert can't handle that? I personally think Nathan Jones would do a good job here out of unemployed managers. You hear about some managers who when they are interviewed present a Powerpoint of what theya re looking to do, having analysed recent performances etc. i want someone like hat, someone smart and confident - not an old hat |
Completely agree on the profile of manager. Jones’s record at Stoke concerns me a bit, but I guess in our position we’re not going to get someone with a perfect record. The alternative would be someone from the lower leagues, like the guy from Barrow. If we have a strong structure in place, as alluded to in the other thread, then an appointment like that becomes far less risky.

Joey Barton speaking a lot of sense on 11:49 - Mar 4 by JakeITFC | I’d be very surprised if he isn’t managing at a higher level than us (with or without Fleetwood) in the near future. |
I was impressed by them last night. Little things like everytime they won a foul in the middle of the pitch they got it down & were playing again instantly. We'd take 30 seconds in the same scenario to decide what we were doing.

Joey Barton speaking a lot of sense on 11:28 - Mar 4 by Marshalls_Mullet | Always seems to be the way that after we get beaten, there is a clamour to sign the opposing manager. I don't mind Barton, but his credentials aren't even as strong as Hursts were when we appointed him. |
I also don't get the clamour for McGreal. If he wasn't a former town player, would there be any enthusiasm for him?

Begrudgingly, they also were also excellent at the sh*thouse element of wasting time at the end of the game (well from about the 70th minute actually) and seeing the game out

Joey Barton speaking a lot of sense on 11:29 - Mar 4 by WarkTheWarkITFC | I'm finding it all funny today. At some point it'll turn to anger. But for now we are a team that has lost 6 out of 8, to go from top of the league, to no chance of making the playoffs in a month, following a 1-0 home defeat to a team that I saw draw Leiston in the FA Cup not so long ago, managed by Joey Barton and backed by 88 fans, there to see the winner scored by Ched Evans. |
If you made that prediction before it happened that would be great trolling and top banter. The fact its happened is beyond embarrassing.
