The guidance 08:34 - May 11 with 4362 viewsHerbivore

Within the space of about an hour this morning Domino Raab has gone from saying you can see your mum and dad separately outdoors, one in the morning and one on the afternoon, to saying you can see them both together as long as you stay 2m apart. It seems even the government doesn't understand its own guidance. What hope for Joe Public? This really is a shambles. Messaging needs to be clear and consistent.

The Foreign Secretary commends you for using your common sense, and bitterly regrets the issuance of a £3,000 fine.

Well, to be fair, it is very important at a time like this that we all come together as a nation to do our own thing.

Well the official guidance is out now, and I must say this did make me laugh.

Please note that is just the BBCs reporting of the guidance and not a direct quote, just made me laugh.

Don't worry, there's going to be a Press Conference with the PM tonight at 7. Should be fun.

Turns out that is a direct quote from the guidance, but there is a little bit more context.

Sectors of the economy that are allowed to be open should be open, for example this includes food production, construction, manufacturing, logistics, distribution and scientific research in laboratories. The only exceptions to this are those workplaces such as hospitality and nonessential retail which during this first step the Government is requiring to remain closed.

Are they being made to open even where they can't enforce social distancing? Pretty tricky in manufacturing and construction to not go within 2m of co-workers.

I'll aim to wear a face mask, but I might not manage it.

Genuinely, what a bunch of utter clowns.

Please dont jump on me but ive met my mun in the park a few times now. I dont see why this is any more dangerous than going shopping in a small tesco metro with low ceilings surrounded bu strangers. (if you haven't car, this has to be done several times per week).

Out for a permitted walk yesterday, I came across a friend and, of course, at an appropriate distance, we had a chat. I think that chat is legal fromWednesfay, but was not permitted yesterday?

It's not a problem.

If you're alert then you can control the virus. And I reckon I'm pretty good at spotting who's got it and who hasn't. Us Geminis are very insightful like that.

I can't see any business guidance specifically in that document, assume that is laid out elsewhere.

As governments are trying to figure out how to ease back into a new normal, please remember:

🛑 Some people don’t agree with the suggested reopening.... that’s okay.

🏡 Some people are still planning to stay at home.... that’s okay.

🦠 Some are still scared of getting the virus and a second wave happening....that’s okay.

💰 Some are sighing with relief to go back to work knowing they may possibly save their business or their homes....that’s okay.

👩🏾‍⚕️Some are thankful they can finally have a surgery they have put off....that’s okay.

📝 Some will be able to attend interviews after weeks without a job....that’s okay.

😷 Some will wear masks for weeks....that’s okay.

💅🏻 Some people will rush out to get the hair or nails done.... that’s okay.

❤️ The point is, everyone has different viewpoints/feelings and that’s okay.

We each have a different story. If you need to stay home, stay home.

If you need to go out, just respect others when in public and be kind!

Don’t judge fellow humans because you’re not in their story.

We all are in different Financial - and - Mental states than we were months ago. So remember...

BE KIND! ❤❤❤

I love trying to work out where things like this have come from. Quite a few different versions of this with little bits changed based on their locale. For example the American version mentions "Governors" rather than Governments.

Some tweak the ending, some have emojis and others don't.

Earliest full example I can find:

Pretty much. Although tbf to the police, they have been largely sensible and have not been acting like knobs over such things.

Apparently one person from one household can meet outdoors, or two people depending on what platform you listened to Dominic Raab on this morning. What a bunch of utter incompetents.

If you listen to Radio 4 you're allowed to meet both parents. And your yoga teacher. And 3 members of your bookclub.
