Within the space of about an hour this morning Domino Raab has gone from saying you can see your mum and dad separately outdoors, one in the morning and one on the afternoon, to saying you can see them both together as long as you stay 2m apart. It seems even the government doesn't understand its own guidance. What hope for Joe Public? This really is a shambles. Messaging needs to be clear and consistent.
This is the problem with how we are being governed right now. In isolation the speech last night was ok*, but when surrounded by everything else they are saying its fooking shambles.
*will caveat that the short notice instruction for some people to go to work, without being clear on who that applies to, or with any guidance for employers, was dumb as fook.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
It was said you can visit parks etc. And you can meet 1 person there. But you must be 2m apart.
So you can travel to meet an elderly relative whilst social distancing. That was how I read it. But not to visit them inside their homes.
But aren't elderly relatives still supposed to stay inside for their own well-being?
I think it's a bit pointless debating this to be honest - lets see what the advice they are publishing later says and then pick all the holes afterrwards.
They seem to forgetting that the existing rules are, in many cases, still there. There is still presumably a limit on the number who can gather together in public.
Isn’t there a rally planned for onevof the London parks this coming Saturday.?
Too many inexperienced junior officers and a lack of Generals. They have given the go ahead for everyone to interpret things in anyway they like.
I interpreted it as a max of 2 people meeting (2m apart) and outdoors only.
Anymore, and I am either meeting 2 people or if I am in a couple meeting an other, so they are meeting 2 people.
Does feel totally unpoliceable and feel sympathy for the boys in blue expected to police this. Suspect they will continue to be pragmatic and only target obvious large groupings of non single households.
But aren't elderly relatives still supposed to stay inside for their own well-being?

'bit pointless defending this to be honest...' might have been more accurate.

Admittedly no-one has any idea whether anything has changed or not, but whatever changes there are are supposed to be in effect from today, not Wednesday, as Raab has now said.
I know I have made some posts saying you can't totally blame the government for people's stupidity, but I can't say that this morning. Raab has just said we can travel as far as we want within England to take exercise, walk on beaches, see family as long as everything is done outdoors and we stay 2m apart.....didn't he? Seems a clear instruction to me for people to be stupid.

Andrew Bridgen was on GMB saying that of course you can see people as long as you can keep a 2m distance, and that you've been able to do this the whole time when Piers Morgan was asking if he could go and visit his 2 sons.
Just such a lack of message discipline, the worm will have totally turned - everyone arranging to meet up now. My mother in law is coming up today to see wife and the kids - not seen them for 3 months and birthday tomorrow and she goes back to work Wednesday. Probably not quite right but hard to stop when she's seen Tory MPs saying it is fine on the TV this morning

I don't think it matters much what they say anymore, the chances of people following the guidance, if there actually is any guidance beyond a few slogans are surely slim to none, given how awful the messaging has been.
I saw a tweet yesterday saying Johnson had recorded his speech and sent the 50 page detail document to printers before a cabinet meeting to discuss it what to do and how to say it. With the confusion of what the actual message is today that looks very likely to be the truth. Good job we have Nicola Sturgeon to give a clear concise update.
The danger is of course with everyone delving into the detail of these announcements and debating what they mean is people forget the most important aspect, the VIRUS has not changed, it is still there and there is no cure.
So regardless if you can meet 1 person, 2 people or 100, best to not unless its life and death as the virus can spread. I would feel terrible if I passed it onto my Mother.
Same with working etc, the enemy is still there so keep at home as much as possible.

He's practically gaslighting us with that nonsense. It was made very clear previously that you could only go outside for excercise on your own or with members of your household.
The reason Johnson made his announcement on Sunday was because the new slogan was to come into effect from Monday.
Not really sure why you seem to think I am defending them.
He clearly said in his speech that the work measures were from Monday and the other measures from Wednesday. Every article I've seen also states that.
Not that it really matters as people will assume they are all from today regardless and announcing stuff on a Sunday with a delay until implementation isn't going to work. It's been poorly handled - the documentation on the changes should have been released at the same time as the speech clearly.
