The guidance 08:34 - May 11 with 4365 viewsHerbivore

Within the space of about an hour this morning Domino Raab has gone from saying you can see your mum and dad separately outdoors, one in the morning and one on the afternoon, to saying you can see them both together as long as you stay 2m apart. It seems even the government doesn't understand its own guidance. What hope for Joe Public? This really is a shambles. Messaging needs to be clear and consistent.

I think you will find things will clarified at 2 o'clock today. There is only so much information that can issued in a ten minute TV broadcast

Surely the message should either be clear enough not to need clarification or if it's that complicated the clarification documents should have been available when the announcement was made.

I do slightly agree that speculating on the specifics isn't going to help much before the clarifications but I understand why people are and I also don't think the clarifications are going to really clarify things. It will really kick off after 2pm and probably with good reason.

Then don't do a 10 minute broadcast when your guidance isn't ready to launch, especially when it is literally a matter of life and death. I also won't be holding my breath for there being clarity by the end of the day.

I mean, the person speculating this morning was the Foreign Secretary for goodness sake.

Maybe the waffly statement could have been timed to coincide with the new guidance being issued, or the old guidance being re-issued, depending on what the waffly statement actually meant.

The danger is of course with everyone delving into the detail of these announcements and debating what they mean is people forget the most important aspect, the VIRUS has not changed, it is still there and there is no cure.

So regardless if you can meet 1 person, 2 people or 100, best to not unless its life and death as the virus can spread. I would feel terrible if I passed it onto my Mother.

Same with working etc, the enemy is still there so keep at home as much as possible.

Quite - I've made this point already today.

There is still no vaccine, we still can't stop it spreading. People are still vulnerable.

And people are bleating on about whether I should meet my 70 or 80 year old mother or father who are probably in a high risk group anyway.

You're being ridiculous in an effort to defend shambolic government messaging.

I don't think it's about the details themselves but the problem is that the clarity and preparedness are lacking.

Lockdown and easing lockdown are both right. But going into lockdown chaotically and emerging from it chaotically are both wrong.

You certainly seem to be. I'm seeing a lot of posts from you today suggesting the messaging is relatively clear and people just need to use common sense. Now you've decided that everyone's parents are over 70 and should be shielding anyway so questions about whether you can see them are mere "bleating". Have a word with yourself.

And you show your true colours Herbs. We go through this 'every single time'.

Anyone that shows an inkling or modicum of a different view or perception to your own and you appear singularly unable to handle that.

I've said this to you on more than one occasion - we don't always agree yet my tone never becomes personal or aggressive and yet, that's not the case with yourself.

At no point today or even at any point since this started have I said that I defend the government or think they are doing a fantastic job. What I am able to do, which you seem inherently incapable of doing, is acknowledge that even though this is a party I didn't vote for and detest the fact that our country is being led by Boris 'f*cking' Johnson, is accept that this is unprecedented and utterly unique. We and the world haven't faced anything like this in a long, long time.

No government is going to get it all right, we certainly haven't, in anyway.

With this 'particular' point - I don't share your view - is that so hard for you to accept?

Last night it was stated - as of Wednesday - we can visit parks and meet people as long as we stay 2m away. It was also stated last night that further information will be forthcoming and that any relaxation is coming with a caveat.

So, I'm not overly concerned (at this point) about absolute specifics.

I'm OK with the fact that you (and others) would like more clarity. I certainly would like more clarity on other aspects (such as how schools return etc.) but I'm more relaxed about this particular point.

Why do you find it so difficult to accept that I don't share your view?

The first three paragraphs are personal, and you say your tone never becomes personal. You could write Boris's next update with prose like that!

The point, gordon, is have my posts before Herbs one been personal, no. Hence my observation and reply.

Anyway - it's all moot, so cup of tea and some work to do for me.

Love ya Herbs.

Fair enough - mentioning that there's a complete absence of any leadership, clarity or decency from our Government at a time of national crisis isn't really 'bleating' though.

Please dont jump on me but ive met my mun in the park a few times now. I dont see why this is any more dangerous than going shopping in a small tesco metro with low ceilings surrounded bu strangers. (if you haven't car, this has to be done several times per week).

Don't know if this helps, looks like the Government has corrected the Foreign Secretary's clarification of the Prime Minister's statement.

As governments are trying to figure out how to ease back into a new normal, please remember:

🛑 Some people don’t agree with the suggested reopening.... that’s okay.

🏡 Some people are still planning to stay at home.... that’s okay.

🦠 Some are still scared of getting the virus and a second wave happening....that’s okay.

💰 Some are sighing with relief to go back to work knowing they may possibly save their business or their homes....that’s okay.

👩🏾‍⚕️Some are thankful they can finally have a surgery they have put off....that’s okay.

📝 Some will be able to attend interviews after weeks without a job....that’s okay.

😷 Some will wear masks for weeks....that’s okay.

💅🏻 Some people will rush out to get the hair or nails done.... that’s okay.

❤️ The point is, everyone has different viewpoints/feelings and that’s okay.

We each have a different story. If you need to stay home, stay home.

If you need to go out, just respect others when in public and be kind!

Don’t judge fellow humans because you’re not in their story.

We all are in different Financial - and - Mental states than we were months ago. So remember...

BE KIND! ❤❤❤
