I've been on TWTD for 20 years and I love it.

Once you assume that everybody on here is an absolute idiot and realise that only your opinion matters, life is great. Just put anyone who disagrees with you on ignore and you'll soon find you have plenty of like-minded friends.

Right, I'm off to my Human Resource training session, 'Small Men Walking Tall', we have a guest speaker called Paul Hurst this week. Come along...

The comments on that article are an absolute disgrace. Cretins like that are why the rest of us can't have nice things and why the UK is currently in the toilet.

Sorry if me saying that offends you OP.

Wait. Not sorry.

That's better.

It's not just about unacceptable stuff like that tho, it's often about all manner of things where people aren't being bigoted in any way, they just have different views on a wide range of things.

You should stay, never let the bullies win, just laugh it off and ignore them.

You think racist posts should go unchallenged? Unsurprising.

And then they're too stupid to defend said 'differing' views, resulting in flounces like this.

If you don't want to be pulled up for spouting off ignorantly, then how about not doing it or accepting other people find it unacceptable.

Some people really will bend over backwards to excuse ignorance on here.

It's usually about some absurd belief that some poster or other holds dear and can't cope with it being criticised though. Usually science/anti science stuff.

Other than that in I can't recall there being many examples of reasonable posts getting turned on (unless it's part of a years long dispute between posters).

Edit - there was Dollys sausages. But I think that might fall under the pre-existing feud rule.

I’ve been on here a while mostly to catch any news on the town, don’t often post as there are a few on here who just love a keyboard warrior fight

Sad really I’m guessing they have nothing better to do?

Depends. How sad do you think it is to attempt to call out racism on a provincial football team forum?

The sad part is that it even needs doing at all.

I don't call having different views on, eg, alternative medicine or the best methods for Extinction Rebellion holding their protests & gaining new supporters "spouting off ignorantly" (just two I remember off the top of my head, there have been many others).

If this still falls in line with your “click” description then fair enough but I can sincerely say that over the decade or so I’ve been reading/posting on here I’ve never really experienced what you’re describing. Certain posters have been on here a long time and as such have pre-existing relationships as such but ultimately most people on here are strangers to one another.

Post enough and you’ll become part of the furniture I’m sure.

I think the issue is (whilst I do not agree with blue bare’s point of view for a moment) it becomes group, for want of better word, mocking. Instead of answering the OP directly, someone comes in, replies to the responder to back them up and then jibes are made in the process. This didn’t happen on the above thread but sometimes another poster is then dragged into it, someone who hasn’t even passed comment on the subject matter. Then, if the mentioned poster or any of their ‘allies’ see it, it becomes a free-for-all bundle where those who do not frequent the site so often find themselves in a he said/she said argument which is difficult to follow.

Maybe it’s just me and I don’t mean to cast any aspersions but I do get where some people may feel there’s a feel of a clique on here which can be difficult to break through. But I think that is the way of Internet forums and whatever forum it is it’s difficult to change.

If you have genuine concerns about that then I'm not sure they're best tacked onto a post where someone is crying about having their racist guff called out! Don't put yourself in their group!

Respect your view and acknowledge that you may well have a valid point, however as you admit yourself that’s not what happened here and in my opinion claiming there’s a clique or shouting bully in the context of the discussion being referenced is an absolute distraction tactic.

On my ‘bundle’ point I think most of them have had to be removed! Normally there’s a passing remark about Glasgow Blue or callis (as was) and what they would make of something in a derogatory way - possibly dragging up something which has been said on another thread. Then it’s seen and the thread gets derailed from the original point.

On my first point, I referred to the thread posted by Libero; that’s an example of what I mean. Maybe others will think I’m over-reading it or being overly-sensitive and that’s fine.

Point of order.

Nine times out of ten OP always gets a direct answer. Genuine questions see mm to be treated in good faith.

Example, I've lost count of the times I've had to explain White privilege or why BLM on here lately. I even did that for the guy who was banned for a racist post last night. Turns out he wasn't looking for a direct answer either.

The problem is when OP doesn't like the answers to their question because it runs coubter to their feelings.
