Hi I have generally enjoyed the banter on the forum but the bunch of up their own ass bell ends that have taken it upon themselves to belittle anyone that dont agree with. So I will make it as simple as their views and delete my profile and move on. I have a low tolerance of self superiority and idiots congratulations

For the record, "disgusting bullying" overstates the offence quite a lot. You and other posters were referenced in a post related to a conspiracy theory on an aspect of the coronavirus crisis in the context of previous posts which sought to play down the extent of the crisis.

Yeah, but WHAT ABOUT RAMPANT AGEISM?

First they came for the old people, but I did nothing because I wasn't old.

Look, here is what could have happened:

People were discussing something.

They knew what they were discussing.

Other people didn't know but wanted to get involved.

These other people could have asked for some clarification if they wanted context.

Context given, everyone wins.

Anyway, there is no need to shout at me. I'm off to make some coffee and enjoy reading Republican excuses for why Coronapalooza was such a flop last night!

Enjoy your Sunday

I'm sorry Sprucey, but seriously, please try reading p1 of this thread as an objective outsider would. There is nothing whatsoever wrong in treating the words of the OP as general comments and reacting to those in their own right, never mind any context - in the opinions of numerous well-respected others on this thread now such as Bloots, Basingstoke, pointofblue, not just myself (who I know is the opposite of well-respected by some).

OK I just had a look.

Six posts in Lank says what the OP had said, what the response was and why he had the arse ache.

Even without that post my reaction would be to think "Hmmm I wonder what's got this poster so upset".

That's how I think an objective outsider would probably approach it.

Now, back to my coffee and Trump gloating!

I'm not sure you should have been surprised that your post would receive short shrift given the use of a loaded phrase like "all lives matter" and subsequently appeared unwilling to defend your position when called out.

While I agree that there can sometimes be an element of people 'piling on' in some discussions in a manner which I feel sometimes does go over the top, I'm not sure this was such an occasion and if any poster is going to post something which they should be aware might be inflammatory they ought to be able and willing to present a defence when challenged.

I have noticed lately that many posters who state rather questionable and unpleasant views that are either unacceptable in modern society or have no scientific basis often claim bullying when they’re challenged on their views.

I’m sure it isn’t unique to the forum but it’s happening on here quite a bit.

I said you sought to underplay the seriousness of the pandemic, these being examples.

42,589 lives now lost to Covid-19 in the UK. by Bluesquid 20 Jun 2020 21:37
Every death is very sad and tragic but how many of these would have died this year anyway if they hadn't been infected?

I think it's a fair question to ask and i think it may even be as many as 2 thirds of this number.

55 deaths today by Bluesquid 9 Jun 2020 10:10
Yep it's serious alright.

"Covid-19 only accounts for 10,000 of the 30,000 excess deaths"

"A new report published in the British Medical Journal titled Covid-19: “Staggering number” of extra deaths in community is not explained by covid-19″ has suggested that quarantine measures in the United Kingdom as a result of the new coronavirus may have already killed more UK seniors than the coronavirus has during the months of April and May."

"According to the data, Covid-19 only accounts for 10,000 of the 30,000 excess deaths that have been recorded in senior care facilities during the height of the pandemic. The article suggests and also quotes British Health officials stating that these unexplained deaths may have occurred because Quarantine measures have prevented seniors from accessing the health care that they need."

Can’t say I recognised said (ex)poster’s name. I’m not going to lose sleep about someone leaving whose view aligns with the defence racists use. Maybe it was an innocent mistake, maybe not. It’s been long enough now though that people should know why ‘all lives matter’ is such an idiotic response to BLM.

Or simply take it back if you realise you've screwed up.

The forum is a pretty forgiving place as a rule.

There was nothing to stop him going off and having a look about to see why people were annoyed. I even said to the guy he could maybe consider doing just that.

But no, because he meant it the first time and had no intention of changing his views.

The truth is with these bullying accusations, is that these are the types who have got away with it their entire lives. They're used to having that bit of power that being able to call people anything they like without repercussion.

They don't like it when they get a bit back.
