Cressida Dick, in charge of the operation that day, remains commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. A shocking incident followed by a cover-up and misinformation campaign.

15 years ago today the Met Police murdered on 13:57 - Jul 23 by JakeITFC | But this is the problem - you are automatically defensive of their actions due to your experience, despite evidence to the contrary. |
I am defending them. Yes. My experience tells me that this type of mistake can happen. I know the environment they work in. Look, read my posts on this and you might get a handle on just how much goes into the role and the responsibilities those young people have. Mistakes, and they are often lethal, are made, but that's the nature of the role.
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

15 years ago today the Met Police murdered on 13:55 - Jul 23 by hampstead_blue | I'm talking about the shooting. That's all. Calling it 'murder', 'hunt mode' are insults to professionals who, I might remind you, put their lived on the line to protect the many. If the OP and others genuinely believe their words then shame on you. I genuinely don't know the details of what happened afterwards. My focus is protecting the reputation of the blokes/women on the ground. At the pointy end. In the maelstrom of confusion. I'm standing by them because it's what I know and can do so with authority. You can call me whatever you like, it's not me you are insulting. You are simply putting yourself in a very poor light indeed. |
After reading your comments and seeing you down-voting anything that seems to go against your strange views without even attempting to address a single word rationally, there is one thing that stands out, and that is you are too stupid to form a rational opinion. I have made civil and reasonable points and you haven't managed to take on board a single word. You are not armed response so stop pretending you are and that you know it all. Neither are you intelligent enough to be involved in 'Intelligence' when you cannot take on board simple points and phrases. [Post edited 23 Jul 2020 18:10]

15 years ago today the Met Police murdered on 10:36 - Jul 23 by hampstead_blue | For me they were in full hunt mode, as I said, with no evident thought to the consequences. Not sure I can believe that as being the words of a calm, sane, and rational person. I can give you evidence the counter your rather odd statement. If you go through their training manual and the objectives of a Police Officer, there is mounds of evidence which I'm afraid shows your statement to be entirely wrong. Hunt mode? Oh dear! You do know we are in the UK right. Not Russia or some other tin pot dictatorship. |
You haven't even read the case you halfwit. Commenting as always on anything and everything that involves guns thinking you're some expert. You are never calm nor rational when fantasising about guns so don't attempt to project your lunacy back onto me. It's a simple phrase you silly boy. That it doesn't compute with you makes me doubt most of your fantastical stories. [Post edited 23 Jul 2020 18:07]

You're a disgrace. Pretending to know and represent these people. You were in the army once. Lots of my family and friends have been in the forces too but they don't bang on about it trying to impress everyone everyday. How insecure and weird have you got to be that you think you are some fecking spokesman? Who the feck are you? You had a job in the forces over 20 years ago and you're still trying to dine out on it. One of my best friend's father is a [now retired] Colonel. You've heard of that rank. Bit higher than you. The children had mirrors on sticks to check under any vehicle they had to travel in as a matter of daily routine back in 'the day'. She thinks you're an idiot. [Post edited 23 Jul 2020 18:21]

I fully appreciate you served Nogs, don't think I don't recognise and appreciate that. But you are a decent bloke who doesn't feel the need to tell everyone every 5 seconds. I know who you are, and I can respect both your service and you as a person without any hero worshipping. The bloke's so insecure and off the rails he's a danger imho.

I think your last line might be over egging it a bit, but he’s certainly posting some weird sh*t and everything you’ve taken him to task on you are quite correct about but he’s about as dangerous as a feather duster. Every post he makes lately he comes across as a very insecure bloke with too much time on his hands and a chip or two on his shoulder. [Post edited 23 Jul 2020 18:34]

He's got something to prove in his mind and he's constantly projecting that onto other people. That he thinks it's everyone else's problem/fault, is a concern. There's unfinished business there and it's up to him to address it, not everyone else. I knew a bloke who was expelled from the police and he was always banging on about his time in the force and projecting onto others. It was unjust to him maybe so he had to blame someone. I am a little curious how many times you were involved in shooting an innocent, unarmed person repeatedly in the head on false intelligence and then had no problem with the people who fed you that false information. I don't think people are criticising the soldiers who did what they were told but rather the flawed process that told them to do it.

The number of straw men in this thread is a massive fire risk.

But no one has named any of the armed response unit, so I suggest that an ad hominem use of the straw man accusation is not possible, but there are general principles involved that are closer to putting up a steel man argument rather than a straw man. [Post edited 24 Jul 2020 13:18]

I disagree. I've never shot an innocent person. The OP and others bang-on about 'murder' and 'full on hunt mode' which relates to the professionals on the ground. I've not spoken nor will about the processes but want to defend the integrity of the CT teams.
