Sweden (No face muzzle) - infection rate down between 15 and 20%, July 23 to August 6. Everywhere else in Europe except Croatia and Portugal - infection rate up. https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-chancellor-rishi-sunak-warns-of-travel-di Was gornon then? The way deaths are recorded vary widely i know that much, but still look at those infection rate figures. Perhaps if we had a first-class testing system we wouldn't need these wretched muzzles?

Sweden : Covid-19 on 23:19 - Aug 7 by jeera | Maybe they prefer Scots to the English. Had you considered that or were you just not going to warn me? (Is it also true you have to be able to recite at least a dozen Abba songs backwards as some sort of mating ritual thing? And then show ability to make some sort of log shelter in a set time?) |
Well, Scots are the Italians of the North. We're over-emotional, deeply romantic and we also wear skirts.

Sweden : Covid-19 on 22:48 - Aug 7 by jeera | I've grown quite fond of blonde women recent years. Funny cos I only ever fancied brunettes. Maybe if I go to Sweden I can dominate them with my Britishness, quote Brexit a bit to reinforce the impression, shout loudly at them in my native tongue* and watch them fall at my feet. I will wear my Union Flag face mask too, which the ladies will adore. I might even go on one of Grayling's ferries for that extra bit of authenticity. *I know many Swedes speak English. |
I quite like redheads. Although any woman who doesn't come with a foot pump will do.

There's no code in Scandinavia. It's more about forgetting any code you ever thought there was.

I'm trying to come up with a national cuisine that can be compared to Italy's too. Is porridge an acceptable answer to Italy's array of pasta, seafood and famous sauces? There must be something. Newcy's Newcastle answer to everything seems to be stotties, which I think he over-sells a bit to be honest. Edit: What do they eat in Sweden btw? [Post edited 7 Aug 2020 23:30]

I knew a Scottish redhead who you could certainly say was over emotional. Utterly fooking mental would also be acceptable.

I have met one or 2 'emotional' Scots I have to say. One from Glasgow springs to mind. Pretty girl, but not exactly shy. [Post edited 7 Aug 2020 23:32]

Haggis FFS. It's subtly beautiful. Admittedly the rest is stodge but, put it this way, I've never had a risotto that's come close to a good haggis with neeps and tatties. But on a serious note, the only debate about food is Mediterranean. It's a battle between France and Italy. And perhaps Greece. There's certainly contenders from around the world but I've tried them and they're not anywhere near. A fantastic curry and a great Argentinean BBQ are still on the haggis level.

Same as the UK generally i.e. lots of French, Italian and other stuff. They've abandoned their local cuisine much more. But there are few things that are as good as in the UK. I loooove their pickled herring though. And there are a few regional dishes that are spectacular. I'm trying to get my daughters to try the rotten herring with me as I never found a Swede that wanted to offer it.

I cannot for the life of me understand why the Swedes would have abandoned their own cuisine with things like rotten fish as a national offering. Pickled herring can't be too dissimilar to roll-mops you'd think, which seem to have been all but forgotten here. It's funny how raw fish has become popular in the UK over recent times but if you'd mentioned pickled fish to a British kid a few years ago they'd have looked at you like you were mad and run to the nearest Maccy Ds. We should have sold it with a tiny bit of rice in a leaf. That's where we went wrong. [Post edited 8 Aug 2020 0:04]

I've had online haggis delivery once which was OK. So maybe. But come on! It's available everywhere if you really want it.

Does it come without tripe and in something more hygienic than a sheep's stomach? Actually the lining isn't really an issue. You can't tell me any haggis bought from anywhere will be any good. There has to be certain qualities. I don't want one stuffed with offal. I want one full of prime meat, with a red wine gravy. That's what haggis is, right? Right?

Swedish "roll mops" with new potatoes and creme fraiche is close to food nirvana. I think nowadays we're just too attached to fat and heavy flavours.

McSween's is always good. But it doesn't matter. Dive the fück in. Then look at the ingredients. And pat yourself on the back for being so sustainable and manly.

I will buy one next week, as I have said before I would, but didn't. It does need to be a bit cooler weather tbf as I don't think it's really a meal for a 34° day. If it were between that and rotten fish I can say it would be the chopped up sheep organs wrapped up in its own innards any day. With mashed potatoes. And a red wine gravy. That's why French food is possibly the best. For instance, I love eggs on their own. But there's no egg recipe that isn't improved by dollops of butter. In the UK we tend to boil what the french bathe in butter. That's the difference.

Dried up pork chop. No butter. Or lovely tender moist pork chop basted in butter. Sauces = butter. Croissant =butter Sauteing = butter Whole turkey = butter Scones = butter Anything nice = butter.

Nowadays it's good quality meat and the smaller haggis aren't wrapped in intestines either. It's like sausage skins. But that spicy peppery lamb's lung ... why isn't it a national dish in the UK? It's like the best roast with Yorkshire pud but subtly Indian too.
