Anyone got any tips on stopping foxes coming in your garden and crapping? 13:07 - Aug 31 with 6768 viewsBrixtonBlue

We've tried putting down onion, egg shells, chopped chillis, coffee grounds, Olbas Oil, mustard in boiling water, vinegar... I've even tried weeing out there to show them who's boss!

If anything they seem to be viewing all this as a challenge!

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Stop leaving ham sandwiches out for them.

Problem solved.

Get a cat. A bossy one.

Our neighbourhood fox insists on crapping in the birdfeeder water dish on the grass!!

And no we haven't got a cat.

Believe there's a Chinese proverb ' that it's better to have a garden full of fox sh1te then own a smelly cat'

There's a difference between not being able to see and not bothering to look.

All is visible in glorious thread-o-vision. Until, of course, a thread goes way over to the right (literally rather than metaphorically).

However that is invariably because [redacted] and [name withheld] have got into a stupid game of contradiction (you can't call it arguing). So you get a clear visual clue about not to bother. That would be clear in Neanderthal View.

In all serious if you live in London you'll never deter them as there so many of them and they get use to all smells. For example Scoot seems to work for a couple of days and then they ignore it.
Some people say the devices which buzz a noise or shoot a jet of water if the motion sensor is tripped work.

Unfortunately only one thing ever deterred them and that was Renardine but it was banned in the UK about 15 years ago but guaranteed to deter a fox

I looked at Scoot on Amazon but the reviews aren't favourable.

The missus has tried something else she read online - hot water mixed with Bio washing powder. Too early for any feedback, other than the patio now smells like a 70's launderette.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Living out in the sticks I would suggest shooting them, can also trap them but if you are in a town or city they are going to keep coming

The crapping is part of scenting, start peeing around the edges of your garden same place or over their scent, don’t get caught for indecent exposure 😁 if garden is overlooked pee in a bottle, it for everyone but it’s the only way to get rid and will take a little time

Owning a Rottweiler would probably deal with it

Foxes are omnivores, if it's theoretically edible, they won't be bothered, if anything it will encourage them

They're not that big an animal, a confident domestic cat could see a fox off if they keep their bottle

Yeah the foxes were proper scared of the cats in my old street. Where we are now we back onto a bit of woodland, so we're a bit more in the foxes domain.

So the fox isn't necessarily in your garden.

It's all seems a bit harsh when we're building further into their habitat and then people write comments about shooting them for coming near us.

Plenty of gimmicky things out there aren't there, but I'd be surprised if they work.

Do you have any of those solar lights? I wonder if they prefer as much cover from the dark as they can use. Maybe they'd feel more exposed if there's a bit more light?

Yes - I've spotted Badger's earlier effort.

The problem is, of course, that foxes are all adherents of either Islam or Judaism, so ham sandwiches are a no-no.

The foxes ARE necessarily in my garden. They're leaving presents on the patio. If they did their business in the woodland I wouldn't have a problem.

I certainly wouldn't advocate shooting them. To be honest I don't mind them. I just pick the poo up and dispose of it, but the missus seems to be on a mission. Might be because she was on an important conference call wandering about bare foot... you've guessed the rest.

We have motion-sensitive security lights out the back. Probably been there for years (we only moved in a week before lockdown) and they don't worry the foxes at all.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Well go and poo in the woods then and see how they like it.

I'm not sure gunfire in that part of South London will have a good outcome for the gunman.
