Wigan 11:48 - Sep 9 with 3552 views | Roberds | https://wiganathletic.com/news/2020/september/Statement-From-The-Joint-Administr Their administrators are "quietly optimistic that permission will be given" by the EFL for them to play on Sunday. The EFL are meeting this week to decide. What team they are able to put out is another matter, seems to be a case of whoever hasn't been flogged yet mixed in with the U23s. Hopefully, if they are allowed to play, we could grab another confidence boosting win a la Bolton last year. Wigan don't play Peterborough until 20th October, plenty of time to put a squad together

Wigan on 12:25 - Sep 9 with 2938 views | ElderGrizzly | I do worry people are underestimating Wigan. Even with their sales, there is still enough of a squad that was good enough to finish mid-table in the Championship. They've got Garner up front, so you know he will score against us.

I think they have sold 7 (or 8) players and a training ground so far with more player sales likely.

He won a typical Garner style penalty last weekend! So he still has it. I’d be worried about him

Assuming they play a 4-4-2 (which I have no idea is accurate) - this is their registered first team players GK Jamie Jones LB Tom Pearce CB CB RB Nathan Byrne (Derby are looking to sign before the weekend) LM Gary Roberts CM Sam Morsy (Hasn't played pre-season due to interest from champ) CM Lee Evans RM Kai Naismith CF Joe Garner CF Callum Lang SUBS GK Owen Evans MID Gavin Massey (Who may be injured) So it is looking like 8 of the 11 will be first team players but it is far far weaker than their championship team and would probably be mid-table at best with this squad and staying very lucky with injuries/suspensions

Agree with this. Got some good operators in there. It's going to be a hard game.

Wigan on 13:21 - Sep 9 with 2534 views | tractordownsouth | I think we'll win Sunday but they're not as much of a basket case as Bolton. They've still got Sam Morsy, Joe Garner and Nathan Byrne among others. Gary Roberts is somehow still going at a decent level as well. 2-1 to Town is my guess. Think Wigan will be bottom half but will just about have enough to stay up.

Just looked him up, he’s 36. Quite a long spell at Huddersfield with a slightly better scoring record than Sears here.

Wigan on 13:58 - Sep 9 with 2366 views | Pinewoodblue | EFL need to be satisfied that a club is financially in a position to be able to complete the season. Sounds to be the administrators are looking for permission to start the season without being able to give EFL the assurances they need. Would suggest it is possible the game could be postponed.

Byrne and Morsy are off to Derby and Middlesbrough respectively and Massey is out for a month. Going forward they look okay albeit with not much strength in depth. Garner thrives off being the underdog and it feels inevitable he will score against us. At the back however they are very short of numbers. I would say they are the definition of "there for the taking" and would be looking at putting Hawkins/Norwood (if fit enough) up against whatever academy pair are at centre back.

If a deal in the offing the administrators may make him unavailable rather than risk injury
