1. Looking very run down, Ipswich for a change compares favourable
2. Far more sheep wearing masks
3. Head in Clouds open
4. Edith Carvel not open
5. Quite a lot of pubs not open
6. One scum shirt, one Town shirt, plus me, we win
7. Walnut Tree Shades still a great pub
8. Did notice in the pubs I went into (4) they had scum leaflets, promotions etc
9. We are bigger and better

Strictly speaking saying 'Ipswich makes Slough look like Hawaii' is simile-tastic...

Although, for alliteration [and a Suffolk theme] one might have chosen

"Makes Haverhill look like Hawaii"

But I am never one to criticise

"Why would they be putting masks on livestock?"

I'm sure there's an inappropriate response to that.

I think that some on here pointed out that the sculpture on the roundabout at the end of Haverhill bypass looks exactly like a giant bogroll

It just shouts "Welcome to Turd Town"

Indeed.

I do not know Norwich well, but it seemed a very pleasant place generally.

Ipswich, on the other hand.... makes Slough look like Hawaii.

I make a point of remaining a dispassionate observer on the forum as I can't stand the level of bile, smugness, point-scoring and virtue signalling endemic on any social media platform, but can't help wading in when people start slagging Ipswich off as a place to live. The OP is (hopefully) being ironic in saying Ipswich is better (my old man lived in Norwich for a decade and it really is one of the nicest places to live in Britain) but Ipswich is also a cracking place to call home, and only getting better...

These people don't know Haverhill mate.

You take no notice.

It's well known as the Hawaii of West Suffolk. Everyone around those parts knows that.

There's a lot of good stuff comes from the forum too Slambers.

It would be a shame if you hadn't noted that too.

HaHa fair enough. Bit of a joke really and I know the place is improving.

The area is actually beautiful, but the town itself, not so much.

For the record, Ipswich is nicer than Slough.

RIP Sir Bobby

My old man always likens it to an upturned bin. Which he feels is apt.

Down arrowed for both the mask comment and for the frankly ludicrous suggestion that Ipswich as a place compares favourably with Norwich. As someone who lives in one and spends a lot of time in the other I can honestly say that's a staggeringly bad shout.

The only thing I'd say is clearly worse about Norwich, having lived there for a few months once, is that it doesn't have much in the way of parks, at least not near the centre. Is that fair?

No. It's got loads of parks. Mousehold Heath is an incredible forest/green space/heath less than a mile from the city centre. Witlingham is about a mile from the city centre. There's a few other large parks less than a mile from the centre as well.

It certainly doesn't have one right in the city centre, like most places, but like Herbivore said, there is so many lush ones less than a mile away.
