What are season ticket holders actually paying for ? on 13:07 - Sep 30 by SouperJim | I think it's like everything else connected to the club, the associated costs of doing it yourselves outweigh the benefits unless you're turning over a considerable whack. See the concourse catering for example, or manufacturing our own shirts etc. |
You make a good point. Does anyone know what the split is between the EFL, home club, and away club for iFollow passes?

What are season ticket holders actually paying for ? on 13:01 - Sep 30 by SouperJim | Well hats off to you, that is fantastic support. These are incredibly difficult times for the club and I guess ME has got to balance the loyalty of our fanbase with the financial pressures of covid to try and keep the club in the best shape he can. You're never going to keep everyone happy, but I do think a one-size-fits-all solution (ifollow access for home games) doesn't really work. You should get more for your money than the likes of me. |
That's very generous of you!!

I'm not sure what cut the EFL gets, but the home team retains the first 500 away fan purchases and then other than that the rest just go to their respective clubs of the fans who pay

So one would assume that for the majority of clubs at this level, they'll take home nothing for an away match? Heck, given the split between ST-holders and non-ST fans, I reckon Town would probably struggle to get anything out of away matches too.

Big clubs should get a tidy sum - if 3000 ITFC fans get a stream for an away game (not included with ST) then that is the thick end of £25,000, which is more than we'd presumably get normally

If they made the alternative to iFollow a good service, they could probably charge a bit more for it (say £15) and many more people would opt for it, as they continue to read the increasingly bad reviews for iFollow from an ever-growing number of customers who can't find a way of getting it to work at all, never mind work well.

It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure you're right. I would speculate that price is a bigger factor than quality of service when it comes to numbers paying for streams outside of the top two divisions. It's your core fans who are going to pay, and they will want to watch regardless of quality (at least to a point). The fair weather fans are already staying away and I don't think the quality of coverage or service is likely to tempt too many back.

I think £10 is pricey as it is, it's only $/€6 for those who are overseas You can get a Sky Sports day pass for £9.99 which as an example this weekend could get you Norwich v Derby, Leeds v Man City and Newcastle v Burnley on Saturday, plus and MLS game and the Finals day of the T20 Blast and the NBA FInals. On Sunday there are 4 PL games and an SPL one, plus all the NFL I personally think £10 is probably the upper value of how far you can push it when you see what else is available for that money - a lot of people haven't bothered with the cup games v Fulham and Arsenal U21s due to cost

That's exactly my line of thought. Now TV shows that £9.99 is pretty much the benchmark for 24hrs of premium content. Given the price comparison, many might think that the product currently offered by iFollow for £10 falls well short of the mark. What would you rather have for your £10? 24hrs of top-level coverage of elite sport, or 90mins of shaky one-camera coverage with multiple access/audio issues?

Problem in being I think , iFollow seem to think they have the monopoly and for the most , they have if you want to watch YOUR team

What are season ticket holders actually paying for ? on 11:00 - Sep 30 by itfcpaul | I think you are right but I was reacting to what seemed like a" it's season ticket holders only that need to support the club" message We buy 4 season tickets in one of the most expensive seating areas in the stadium, not due to wanting to spend money but for my wife's disability as the seating gives her the space she needs to sit comfortably as well as she doesn't have to stand up every time someone walks past her, and all we get is the same as everyone else, who may pay for a cheap ticket on their own, we can watch iFollow games for free 4 times, but not much use that is it really and yes we have to pay for away games as well, like everyone else does, of course, but you would have thought that the club would at least have come up with options over and above due to the amount we are paying, yes it's our choice but surely they could take off us what they take off everyone else for not going to games, which is nothing unless we want to pay for iFollow. We pay monthly around £100 and get £10 iFollow pass, if it works and if it's watchable, of course. |
Definitely sympathise mate, the club could do more for people in your situation and I expect that they will.

Exactly. In response to Jim, Joe & the other poster above (sorry can't recall who it was) re £9.99 to watch various Prem & Champ teams + other sports - I don't want to watch them, only ITFC, and the point I was trying to make is that if ITFC themselves were to set up a service, the payments would be going directly to them. It'd be helping the club, and even at £15 per game, would still be cheaper than buying tickets on a match by match basis! (or they could do a season long pass).

If it means watching the lower league team you support, you might prefer that option. I agree though that charging more than £10 for ifollow coverage would be pushing it.
