Here's a question for the subutteo nuts 16:01 - Dec 11 with 1118 viewsbluelagos

Can you flick a man at a rolling ball? Like cross it from one player and then flick another at the ball as it rolls and score?

Yep, it was considered an essential skill to learn - bit embarrassing though if the 2nd player misses the ball and ends up in the goal instead!

My mate used to that, but I'd no idea it was allowed. We had many rows over that.

However, the defending side is allowed to flick a player to block the ball once it has been played but the defensive player must be stationary if it does touch the ball otherwise it's a free kick.

Sounds like Subbuteo needs VAR!

We've had a few defenders who have demonstrated the particular skill of the mentioned "2nd player" over the years.

The "blocking flick" ruins the flow of the game.

My Subutteo players are almost all injured, and I have run out of Araldite. Most of them will be back by Christmas, but a bit heavier than they ought to be.

I had the same problem until I repainted the blue shirts in a different teams colours whereupon they became mysteriously unbreakable.

The main advantage of a Subbuteo set was the floodlights.
Made it much easier to peruse your Razzle mag in bed once those crappy torch batteries had packed up.

I have 3 ball boys and a cameraman that will, but the rest of the side refuse to take the knee prior to kick off. But I have a headless centre forward whose on for 40 goals this season. No doubt we’ll let him go for peanuts in the summer.

Inconsistent... the goalkeeper is allowed to be used to block a moving ball so therefore so should any player.
