Just wondered when the hive mind thinks it will be possible/sensible to look at going abroad again?

I know some people will say it’s not important in a pandemic but I’m not talking about trying to take advantage of a loophole, or squeeze through a gap in government regulations, I’m wondering when people think it may be back to something resembling normal?

I’m craving some sunshine, presume May half term is too optimistic?

August more realistic, or whole year in jeopardy?

I think it'll be sunny here before it's realistic to think about going abroad.

I am hoping June, but I know what you mean if the virus was not so out of control I would love to find a tropical island right now!

Nothing wrong with looking ahead, giving yourself something to look forward to.

Realistically? I can't see anything before June. Just don't believe the vaccinations will be done until then for those over 50. Maybe they start to ease restrictions earlier but where you are going needs to be safe too.

Wednesday Chile banned all visitors who have been in the Uk in the past 2 weeks. Lots of places are tightening their borders atm.

Thanks all, I’ll continue the heart v head debate and make sure, if I do book somewhere, it’s properly protected!

The Capitol is now very well protected.

Don't forget your Viking hat though.

FCO planning is May for short haul, September for long haul. There will still be significant entry requirements in most though, such as test before travel or vaccine required.

But that’s all dependent on vaccines rolling out as hoped.

Why would there be such a gap between short and long haul opening up?
