xG tables from more recent games...... 09:38 - Feb 9 with 826 views | itfcjoe | .....things have picked up a bit. When it is split for last x games, then it meanes x/2 home games, and x/2 away games......so last 8 games means your last 4 at home and last 4 away, not your literal last 8 games Last 4 games - 8th Last 8 games - 10th Last 12 games - 14th Last 16 games - 16th All this has been achieved by improving the defence, the attack has mostly remained one of the worst in the league Last 16 games - Attack 20th, Defence 7th Last 12 games - Attack 19th, Defence 8th Last 8 games - Attack 19th, Defence 4th Last 4 games - Attack 17th, Defence 1st Even when you look at set pieces our attack is 20th, and defence is the best in the league at defending them Yet the defence seems to get more criticism and scrutiny than the attack - Chambers, Woolfie, McGuinness, Ward all seen as players who have had struggles this year, plus Toto obviously

All of the above have made individual errors in games that have often times lead to goals. But I don't think we have been criticising the defence en masse, with the exception of the normal keyboard warriors. I actually think our lack of a cutting edge has had far more attention on this board.

xG tables from more recent games...... on 09:51 - Feb 9 with 738 views | MrTown | For large parts of the season neither the defence nor the attack have been good enough. The lack of cutting edge or creation of chances has still come in for its fair share of criticism on this board, as rightly have the individual mistakes from defenders. Last 3 performances have been a bit better though.

xG tables from more recent games...... on 10:48 - Feb 9 with 643 views | Garv | I think it's just been widely accepted that our attack has been toothless. It's not as if we've been creating loads of chances and one or two strikers in particular have been missing chances. Defensively there's probably more scope to point out individuals for poor performances/high profile mistakes.

I think, Judge aside, the most heavily criticised players on this board are the defensive ones

It's hard to know who to criticise up front though. No striker has managed a run of games and we've constantly chopped and changed the 'wide forwards'. I think because we generally create so little nobody has been guilty of missing easy chances. Feels like our attacking issues are down to being really poorly set up, whereas the defence has had some poor individual errors in it at times.

But most stats prove the defence has been good enough, as it was on the whole last year - both in terms of xG and goals conceded. For all of Lambert's talk about pretty entertaining football, we've been a side based on defensive solidity that have failed to build on it in both seasons. Both of our good starts to the season have been off the back of a string of clean sheets, not a load of goals

It's definitely that,we create next to nothing as a team and rely on pieces of individual skill to break a team down - on Saturday it was an excellent finish from Alan Judge from a low percentage shot. I think focusin on defensive errors, ignores the fact that the defence is generally very good, plus also that for 3-4 seasons now they are having to play under the pressure of knowing that if they concede then it's likely game over.

I also think there's an element of sympathy for players like Drinan, who are recognised for being triers but ultimately seen as not good enough. If Norwood has a bad game he gets stick because we know how good he can be. Drinan hasn't proved anything yet really.
