All managers who had success in the past but failed at Ipswich, under the ownership of EVANS

Keane - took Sunderland from bottom to promotion, [Had a meltdown and wasn't speaking to players or board]

Jewell - two promotions [Derby relegated and regarded as the worst Premier League side ever]

McCarthy - two promotions [Wolves as good as relegated, including an embarrassing 0-5 defeat to WBA. Awful relationship with the fans at the end (sound familiar?)]

Hurst - Took relegation favourites to play off final [No experience of dealing with good sums of money, like an unwatched child in as sweet shop]

Lambert - Promotions at Colchester & Norwich [Awful at Villa, (albeit thrown under the bus), Awful at Wolves, Blackburn and then Stoke]

Basically, Evans historically takes failed managers, with the exception of Hurst, who inexperienced, Evans allowed to do anything at all without checks or advice.

Which should help us narrow down our options. We're looking for managers that got promotions and then had a meltdown and destroyed their relationships, or managers that got promoted and then turned out to probably be pony.

Gary Monk anyone?

You've left Lambert's near-decade of failure off the list there.

The point is that all of them had had success in the past and none of them had any success at Ipswich. What are the odds of that?

Paul Cook is a great manager, I bet you we get him in and we'll still struggle. We'll keep sliding under Evans ownership.

Many of us have been saying that since before Jewell. We could get a young Alex Fergusson in, it really wont matter with Evans.

Many of us have also been shot down for saying so.

Sure. But what are you actually asking for?

Those wanting Lambert out (myself very much included) have a simple request - that Evans sacks Lambert and replaces him with a different manager. He can afford to do this. It might be pricier than ideal, given the idiotic decision to give the man a 5-year deal, but there we go.

But asking for "Evans out" doesn't mean anything. Even if Evans gives the club to the fans and writes off all the debt, who plugs the £6m a year that Evans has been putting in? Or do we radically reduce our budget and become the lowest spenders in the division?

If you are merely asking him to put the club up for sale, then are you asking him to sell to the highest bidder, or to someone who will "pinky promise" to put lots of money into the club (a promise which would be totally unenforceable)?

I can't even say "be careful what you wish for", because I'm not really sure what it is that you wish for? Are you simply saying that any alternative owner must be better than Evans? If so, I respectfully disagree.

Why wouldn't a new owner be better than Evans? We have been on the decline for over a decade

6 million isn't a lot to a multi millionaire/billionarie. How many football clubs are there available to buy in England with our history & with an all-time low asking price? Not many

Quite high. The average managerial stint across all four division of English football is about 1 year and 2 months. That means most managers fail.

Well, if you're qualifying "overachieving relative to budget for half a decade" as the manager failing then still quite high.

Yes in fairness McCarthy did a great job. He masked the problems which ran deeper at the club. As for his budget it was actually fairly strong, our players were some of the best paid in the league.

We can agree to disagree. I believe we'll get a new manager in and continue to slide/struggle to get promoted in this league. Lets see where we are in 12 months time

Don't see why really.
Budget? Very competitive for the division.
Player quality? Most can be got rid of this Summer.
Coaching? Depends on the new manager.
Academy? Seemingly fine.
Marcus Evans' mystical destructive aura? Damn.

This will upset a few but we haven’t really been on the decline for a decade - if you want to really pinpoint where the decline started you have to go back further to the ITV Digital collapse

In terms of Evans tenure however when he came in we were a mid table Championship club (finished 15th, 14th the previous 2 seasons and in mid table again when he arrived). Since then up until 2 years ago we’d basically remained in the same place - a couple of good/bad seasons which you’d expect in football but mostly floating around that zone. Was that what we hoped for? Of course not, but the actual decline under him only really started from the point Hurst was appointed and subsequently compounded by Lambert

So how much is down to Evans? He’s certainly massively culpable not just as the man that made those appointments but also in his failure to put in place a structure that gives us the best chance to succeed. And clearly he’s not willing to fund us at the level of the top teams in the Championship which makes it very unlikely that we’ll get to where most fans think we should be. However he’s not the reason we’re set for another mid table finish in Division 3 given the resources available to Lambert and how they compare at this level

Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010
