...I applaud Mr Drysdale for making a stand.

No person should have to put up with being spoken to like sh1te by players and managers.

Is is any wonder that a ref would snap one day?!

He should be punished, but well done that man for making a stand.

I mean, he can just send players off. He doesn't need to go head to head with them.

Just seems an odd hill for him to have chosen to die on.

It doesn't look like a dive, it does look a poor decision (or a marginal call, at least), but he was hardly being hounded over it. See far worse in most games.

As for the sending off, I simply don't see violent conduct in there.

Sending off was for foul and abusive language apparently.

I don't think he needs to be punished.

Slap on the wrist. As someone on here said, use that moment as a teaching tool.

Truly impaired.

Needs to be punished, but it's no wonder a ref would snap being treated like that in a work place.

I doubt he 'chose' his moment.

The sensible thing to do so obviously it won’t happen.

To be honest, I'm surprised something like this has happened sooner. If you consider the verbals they do get from players, it's amazing it's not more frequent. Look how Man Utd used to behave, look at Bolton in 2000 etc.

Not condoning the ref, but it must be hard sometimes to bite your tongue. Saying that, I didn't think Judge's response was overly aggressive.

You're probably touching on a bigger issue in football. There certainly needs to be more respect shown to officials in the game from grass roots up.

We do like to have a go at refs this season and surround them. So I've got no arguments within him sending Downes off if he was been a vile little prick.

So I see.

Poor from Flynn. Needs to curb that edge in his game or it'll stop him. He's a player that has that nasty streak we often say Town lack, but needs to channel it into shthousing and keeping it out of the ref's view.

Too often it comes across via daft lunge or, in this case, effing and jeffing the ref.

There's about half a second between the ref booking him and sending him off, barely enough time for Downes to even drop the C bomb. Think the ref was looking for an opportunity at that point.

He could have been going at it all game for all we know. We do know he sees the red mist easily, so it's no great surprise.

I'm a social worker by trade, my tolerance for being abused and spoken to like sh1te is very high. Can't say I ever went forehead to forehead with someone at work.

Also, he didn't take a stand - he lost his sht and went head to head with a player, then grinned like a dck as he sent another one off.

That's not a stand, that's having lost control.

Now, if refs DID take a stand over that sort of behaviour, that would be worth applauding.

Sure, but if you watch the incident there's nothing in the challenge and Flynn hardly explodes at the ref afterwards either. The more I see it the more I think Downes is the victim of the ref losing his head, rather than Downes being the one losing his head.

I'll take your word for your own conduct.

I can completely understand a ref snapping however.

You should try it. Follow it up with a knee in the sack and and then a swift uppercut. You wouldn't take any shoite after that!

Making a stand would be giving Judge a red card for whatever he said to him, not squaring up (down) to him with gritted teeth.

He fancied a bit of it.
