No one else has mentioned this so I will... 11:54 - Feb 24 with 4845 views | abracaDOBRA_ | No one find it intriguing that one of our best performances of the season has come a few days before the 'big meeting'. Could it be the players know, and Lambert asked them to give it their all in his final game? Or maybe they are just relieved and playing freely again. (Yes I love a conspiracy)

I think the more solid performances are simply the result of a more solid set-up with 2 non-nonsense defenders, 2 strikers fairly centrally and the ability to play more direct more often ... instead of fannying around with it at the back all the time or trying to build long-range attacks involving most of the team. It’s a lot more simple for the players, and to work as a team, than whatever it was we were trying to do against Northampton.

I do agree with the solid set up comment. The team selection and formation has been what we've needed but do think they seem to be playing with a lot more fight yesterday and even Saturday. I do believe something is happening though, and id say that's why he was moody last night.

So is Lambert really onto something with his selection from Town's 50 odd players or is this yet another false dawn? Many of us thought the Blackpool performance - with a totally different set up - was a silver lining, but it didn't last long. One positive was Lambert picking an unchanged starting XI. When we've had a fairly settled team we've generally done OK.

Our improved performances have come.... on 13:41 - Feb 24 with 3611 views | Bloots | ....on the back of possibly the worst performance ever, against Northampton, so an improvement of some sort was inevitable and a decent performance against a Hull team that put in their worst performance of the season. It's all relative. I wouldn't read too much into it. Lambert out.

Are you suggesting that it's down to Mars that the players are working harder, resting in between matches and playing better? In which case there could be something in that Mars helps you work, rest and play?

Which suggests that for previous matches it has been 'Have a break, Have a Kit-Kat'.

Don't forget, over a whole season, it's not a sprint, it's a snickers... or something.

Just wait till we get to three o'clock and Lambert hasn't been sacked, it'll be like Pastille Day on here...

Some posters are glass half full, some are glass half empty, but too many on here have gone the full Cadbury and expect a glass and a half.

No one else has mentioned this so I will... on 15:01 - Feb 24 with 3218 views | The_Flashing_Smile | It seems since the news of the big meeting broke, Lambert's changed the lineup, gone more direct and we've played much better. Could it be the fabled 'Evans told him the way to play' being reversed now Lambert's gone anyway, as a kind of 'I told you so - this is what we'd have had if you'd just let me get on with managing the team' moment? A parting swipe, essentially?

Reminds me when Ted Dexter, Chairman of Selectors, explained away a heavy England defeat by declaring that "Venus may be in the wrong juxtaposition to somewhere else". I'm sure Lord Ted was right!
