I didn't realise that.... on 21:00 - Feb 24 by PJH | Although the North Stand is not all that good a guide because at different times they supported Rotherham, Hull and Barnsley-they even sometimes supported Ipswich. |
Funnily enough I agree that the North Stand isn't the best guide, because it was still fairly well populated, unlike the other three stands. I think Evans' decision to not renew McCarthy's contract was almost certainly more influenced by those who weren't turning up rather than the oft vilified section of our support who chose to be really angry and vocal about it. Evans is a businessman, the sub 10000 crowds against Barnsley, Cardiff and Hull would have been of more concern to him than the few hundred who had a bit much to drink.

I didn't realise that.... on 20:32 - Feb 24 by unstableblue | Which bit of revising history was in my post Mullet? Name an inaccuracy? He’s gone get over it. |
The bit where you wrote ‘No one HATED him’, which is clearly rubbish given scenes such as Brentford away And the bit where you claimed we went 6 league games without a goal at home, which never happened The idea that he could have been funded and just chose not to make additions is pretty obviously nonsense too, he clearly wouldn’t have chosen to operate on a bottom quarter by choice I could point out a few other parts that I think are rubbish but won’t as they fall under opinion rather than fact Also it’s great to see that you’ve moved on from demanding that people ignore you rather than disagree with your posts, into now just demanding people don’t post things that you disagree with. Anyone want to read how MM is getting on at Cardiff? on 20:55 - Feb 24 by blueconscience | You can guarantee, every time you open your mouth to speak, someone somewhere would take offence to what you say. |
Which is exactly what has occurred despite Steve politely asking people who wanted to be awkward to not make themselves known on this thread. But you can't help yourselves. Some spoke, you were unduly offended. Your voices have got to be heard even when no one wants to hear them.

Are we still banging on about Mick; collective amnesia a go go! on 19:56 - Feb 24 by unstableblue | Firstly - who actually 'hated' Mick? are there really a lot of Town fans who 'hated' Mick, a tiny amount maybe. But its really a bit silly to say there was some mass hatred of Mick. We'd had some great times under Mick AND we were in the Championship, we had a play-off drive. Some say he should have been funded, but wasn't the fact that he didn't want to upset the squad with new additions? But there was decline, and the midfield was never sorted. But COME ON - The 1000s who sang 'Mick McCarthy your football is sh!t' across a number of games were just frustrated at the quality of football, well because, well it was sh!t, and there was simply a lack of goals and passing intent. No one HATED him, and frankly a turgid midfield and selection/game set-up approach was going to put people off. The 80% who called for him to go in an EADT poll.. was well because we'd be experiencing Skuglas! etc etc etc. Its 80% of sleepy suffolk people. Who can get forget the highlights of QPR at home, Burton at home, the fact we'd gone 6 league games without a goal at home, several months of mediocrity. The debacle of the 3-0 home loss to Hull. But there were similar games in the previous season. Look it was time for him to go, get over it. Yes Marcus fecked up with Hurst immediately that's nothing to do with Mick. Lambert has also been a disaster - people really do HATE him. That's because he is sh!t and not half as charming as Mick. I really hope Mick does well at Cardiff, i expect them to beat a rudderless Bournemouth tonight and be really in the mix. Cardiff squad is perfect for him. BUT CAN WE PLEASE STOP THESE POSTS! absolutely great to comment on how Mick is doing... I did so myself earlier.. and great to share the article, its a football forum. But stop with the 'If you hate him still then just ignore the post...' silliness, already. |
You were politely asked not to comment. It's not a difficult request. You have trashed the thread. Not everything on this needs your input. Live with your own guilt in silence.

Anyone want to read how MM is getting on at Cardiff? on 18:43 - Feb 24 by Felstow1978 | So what's wrong with a touch of "hooliganism"? 1970s were the best years of my life, beer n bovver a way of life. Football's a man's game, not the plasticised nonceness served up to the Sky generation |
Loved it when going to a match was like the Battle of Helms Deep matched with the Sharpville riots.

Fella I know was left half dead in a phone box after a match with West Ham. It was great, yeah. He wasn't even interested in a scrap. Seriously, how can anyone be so thick?

Sighs.... here he is!!! Do I really have to respond! Why do I bother?! Where did I write no one hated him? Where did I write that? I said a tiny amount of people maybe hated him, hate use pretty strong, what was it 10-15-30 people at Brentford? Was it really more. Didn’t seem like it. Did they hate him? To repeat: “Firstly - who actually 'hated' Mick? are there really a lot of Town fans who 'hated' Mick, a tiny amount maybe.” Was it not 6 games? If not it’s 5... my mistake, what does it change though? It was a poor run, and it wasn’t just the goals it was the style. I’m just repeating what Phil and others have stated that McCarthy was not pressing for funds to add to the squad in the play off season. What other things can you point out? What opinion? That 80% fans polled wanted him to leave? That gates were dropping to 13,500? As your final point I’m just making the clearly valid point that those who keeping ‘na na na, careful what you wish for... ooh wasn’t I right’ about an event that happened in early 2018, and failing to connect to that the issue has been the appalling manager selection since, not the dismissal of a manager who’s time at the club had run its course. It’s just a bit sad and divisive. The OP I don’t think is of that group. But if you want me to paste reams of examples please just ask. Night night

Are you seriously too rude to not respect the OP's request to not hijack his thread? To be honest all this says is that you know you got this wrong and feel the need to defend this even when it's not required.

Mate, attendances under Lambert have dropped to literally zero and we now play crap, boring football in the middle of the third tier. And yet I've seen you give a lot more slack to PR Paul than you've ever been willing to give big Mick. Bizarre.

Or the bit where I made a comment to someone else and said "years" and he jumps in and demands to know what's wrong with his post? I guess the bluster doesn't shroud the shame and humiliation of positioning oneself as a progressive, technical puritan eh?
