Got my vaccine next week... 09:56 - Feb 28 with 5702 viewsitfcjoe

....no idea why i have effectively 'jumped the queue' as am mid 30s with no underlying health conditions......but excited to be getting it and feeling like we are getting closer to the end.

For anyone who has had one, do you know which one you have before you go? Or do you just find out when there - I'm not fussed which one I have but would like to do a little bit of a read up with what to expect from either

Thanks. I hope so too. My husband is in the same age range despite being 7 years younger than me, and has no health problems. We both have different surgeries too.

You can do this Debsie. As some one else has, you’ve got this far (the hardest bit) so you can do the next little bit. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t listen to that little worry whisperer on you shoulder - he hasn’t been right yet and he won’t be right in the future. You’re rocking this girl, you can do it.

Thanks Vic - will try my best. Not easy when so much of the news is scary and for each positive one, there are 5 other negative ones, like the new variants etc. x

Don’t listen to the fake news and conspiracy peddlers - they prey on people like you and just cause unnecessary fear. Keep focusing on the facts - there is almost daily increasing evidence that the vaccines are safer and more effective than was first thought. There’s so much real world reassurance from ordinary people in this thread - hold onto it.

Had the Oxford one just under 3 weeks ago, was told of appt. at vacc centre by phone call from GP surgery; wasn't told beforehand which it would be.

Zero symptoms first couple of days, v. slight ache at injection site on 3rd day which then lasted for several days (but which was so slight I wouldn't have noticed if not looking out for it). Days 3-5 also had v. mild ache in L-side lymph gland in neck which is uncommon, but could maybe have been something else. Am over-70 with underlyings.

Worried if I will be one that slips through the net. I have not been commenting on here for a week as hit rock bottom last week and Wednesday it all came to a head that would have resulted in me no longer being around.

I have been in a downward spiral since the Government did a U-turn on asthma sufferers - we were always told we were Priority 6, if we had controlled asthma. Also have an annual flu jab, so to be moved totally out of any priority hit me hard. Why are we good enough for a flu jab (as catching that could be fatal), but not enough to be vaccinated against a more dangerous virus?

I now have to wait until the 40-49 group are announced. I just hope it's not too long as things are getting beyond breaking point.

They were a bit naughty with asthma, because it changed from having controlled asthma having priority to "severe asthma". I don't normally have a problem with it as long as I take my inhalers but in the winter then the cough and cold season some around and I get the bug it hits me like a freight train, take me a good 6 weeks to 2 moths to shake off.

I do take my brown inhaler every day, and the blue one if I need it. I get something every winter, despite a flu jab, and the really nasty one I got in 2019 has never gone away.

Never forget bad news sells stories, good news doesn’t and nobody in the media is interested in it. Most of what is written is distorted or made up; this was true 2017 - 2019 with stuff I was involved in and I can’t see why the media would have changed. For example Dec 31st, we were told there would be queues from Dover similar to France’s blockade and nothing in the shops. Wrong, but it doesn’t make the news. The U.K. has a huge testing capacity now. Twice that of Germany and way bigger than France. Not mentioned. Track and trace has been running at over 90%. Not news.

New variants, this that and the other, bad news and moan ups - don’t focus on it. Deal with the things in your life you can control and park things you can’t. When I am offered a vaccine I will take it. It’s something I can control and I don’t care which one it is. They are all good. They are all better than anyone could possibly have imagined 6 months ago and there is no logical reason not to have the vaccination..

It's hard to not read all the bad stuff, but will try harder to treat it with a pinch of salt. I will definitely be having the vaccines though, no doubts there. Not that pleased with my Mum in law - had her letter two weeks back and STILL not booked herself in as "she forgot" :o I could kind of understand that week when the snow was here, but last week or so, no excuses really!

Had mine this morning. Got a txt a week or so ago saying I was getting the Pfizer vaccine. 35 years old but was 5 stone heavier at my last weighing and measuring at the GP so it was certainly a BMI reason. Well under the threshold now but kept that to myself. 🤣🤣

No side effects as yet. A few friends and my mother have had the AZ and all felt rough afterwards but only for a very brief time. I’ve had arguments with them about which vaccine to get. Ridiculous really seeing as they both effectively stop hospitalisation and mortality from Covid. It’s a sorry state of affairs when people look at base facts on Twitter!

Believe me, most of it isn’t true so treat everything you read with suspicion and just worry about your world.

And keep encouraging your mum in law. Had my mum still been here, it’s exactly what I’d have had to do.

Think I said this before so sorry to sound like a broken record but my outlook improved massively when I stopped reading every scrap of news and watch Dr Campbell's Youtube update each day instead. He's positive but also honest so if there's cause for concern he'll tell you but most of the time the news just gets more and more positive about the vaccines.

Truly impaired.
