It's even worse at Birmingham, stands needing to be closed for repairs on top of financial chaos.

Pretty much all of English football below the upper reaches of the Prem is staggering along on the very brink of financial ruin, sucking in vast amounts of money (in the form of diminished fortunes or unrepayable debts) without any real hope of ever breaking even.

This season of Covid, added to the economic crunch which will follow, may be enough to break the system. Some teams may disappear. Many others will be severely diminished. Standards will collapse and grounds be lost. There will be no route of progression for talented English footballers.

Unfortunately, the real source of this problem - the TV-supported Prem top teams - will sail on pretty much unaffected. Most of their players and income are from abroad and the media will continue to blow smoke up their arses.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

What an utter state.

I wonder how the SBR stand is doing — that's got a few issues at the moment, hasn't it?

Agree with all of that, and it's the reason why I think a small closed shop Prem of 12 teams or Euro super league or whatever would be a good thing.

The rest of football in this country could then go back to what it was once before, sustainable and competitive where every club could actually dream of one day being at the top of the pile.

In terms of what would have most appeal in the long run? I know where my money is.

That is truly shocking, I thought Derby were the basket-case of the Championship, but looks like Brum want that title badly.

Thank goodness 'imminent' would never become a standing joke on this site.

This should always be remembered when ME is discussed. We might not be moving forwards but in these dire times there is no indication the club itself is sinking.

Yes, I've not seen anything other than the little aside to the media earlier in the season. Certainly some of the steelwork that is exposed needs some cosmetic work but there is probably more.

Again, the result of running things on the cheap....

I see you have gone from a radical Lambert Outer to a radical Marcus Evans fanatic. When will you be calling for Cooks head? Not long I suspect.

To be fair to Blubbers he's always had a rational opinion where ME is concerned, probably the ultimate BCWYWF

Wow, thanks for posting this. Really interesting and what a horror story Derby and Birmingham seem to be. Tbh I rarely bother looking at other clubs’ problems, but aside from the premier league, yo-yo clubs and those with big benefactors it looks a ghastly mess.

That’s true but it IS being mismanaged outside of the managers’ remit. The two are separate issues. For one, ME deserves some credit, for the other, he deserves the stick he gats.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Would be very happy for that to happen .

I really can't get interested in the Premiership , it's like watching a foreign league .

The big clubs forming their own league would be fine , no loss .

Getting back to a league that you describe would be much more interesting .
