Loads of fresh-faced young people out and about on their bikes, happy, smiling families all enjoying the sunshine, new life springing up all over the place.
Bah humbug. Give me winter any day of the week.

Here off the north west coast of Scotland the daffodils are finally opening, have had my best ever display of crocus earlier in the month. The forsythia and pansies are flowering too, as is the pink flowered big bush that I have never figured out the name of (I asked a local and she just said 'oh, I call them the strawberry bush').
Less than five weeks until we say goodbye, hopefully, to the five mile limit on non-essential travel now.
And it about ten degrees Celsius warmer than it was a couple of months ago.
Totally fantastic, just dug a pond last few days, filled it up yesterday, looks fantastic, soft muddy edges and a gravel bit, lots of seeds have gone in, looking forward to seeing what grows, obviously hoping the Wood Pigeons don't get it all.
Also will be able to get out and do fieldwork this summer in a few weeks (on birds) having had the complete field season cancelled last year, so I'm totally chipper.
First Osprey has turned up again at the Osprey nest up the road as well, not seen any myself yet and no other migrants spotted yet either, but this is the most exciting part of the year definitely.

The five mile boundary is five miles from the edge of your local authority area, so if you're in Highland (which I thought you were) then you've got a massive area to play with.
It's the Dundonians I feel sorry for.

Ah thanks, so I wasn't breaking the law when I drove over to Dingwall the other week. Although I do feel somewhat less of a rebel outlaw (in a Skoda Octavia?) now.
Looks like we have some blue tits nesting in our nesting box out in the garden, which is lovely. Loads of bulbs blooming and the trees and shrubs are all starting to bud. Some early cherry blossom already out around the town. Lovely stuff. And when clocks go forward we'll have an extra hour in the evening to enjoy it all.
Lighter mornings, warmer days (sometimes), birdsong much more audible (rather than just crows and pigeons), trees coming into bud. And next week the clocks change and it will be light until 7.
I do think though that, as much as anything else, the changeability of the seasons is one of the great things about living in a country at this latitude (with thanks to the gulf stream too of course). Not too many extremes but nor the boredom of a monoclimate.
great to see bees back in the garden, frogspawn has appeared two weeks earlier than usual and my favourite spring flower, pulmonaria, is starting to bloom

Always get a massive lift when I hear the first curlew - first real sign Spring's here in these parts, and there are loads of 'em all trilling away now, plus other birds getting going with their singing.
Honeysuckle leaves are starting to show, daffies are almost up to full height & in bud. Tho does anyone else feel a bit conflicted about yellow flowers in the garden?! I try to avoid them if I have a choice, but I love daffies, so until someone creates a blue variety ...
Grass has started to grow - the first green flush showing.
Greenhouse automatic vents opened for the first time yesterday!
Have been out in the veg plot planning this year's rotation - yay :)

On the blossom front, my apricot tree is just about to flower, and it is going to be a very good year for it based on the number of buds.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
