Market research - spirits in pubs 13:42 - Mar 24 with 6108 views | Bluefish | As you know I'm opening a family friendly community and sport bar. I need to stock it out so interested to know your view on spirits. If you were to have gin, how many types would you expect? Same for rum? Go for cheap one or pay for premium What spirits are essential?

Correct, they are neither a whisky or a whiskey. They can however be regarded as acceptable bourbons for those who like that sort of thing. I have to admit to frequently straying off the straight and narrow as a teenager and finishing the evening with a Canadian Club.

JD is not from Kentucky it’s from Tennessee so I think you may need to check that. I love JD not as much as Woodfords but it breaks my heart to see people Chuck coke over it.

I'm far from an expert on the American stuff, I was given an unwanted bottle of Jack Daniels some years ago and I had no problems drinking it though. So I have checked and, if this article is anything to go by, maybe I need to be a bit more adventurous in my drinking to see if I can add discernment of bourbons (err, etc.) to my penchant for single malts: https://www.foodandwine.com/cocktails-spirits/difference-between-bourbon-and-whi

Southern Comfort isn't really a bourbon either. It's a liqueur.

I am the same with Pernod Did a cross channel trip when I was 16. As the Ferry smorgasbord was full at 6.30 before breakfast my mate decided to be very sophisticated and went to the bat for Pernod and blackcurrants It probably doesn't count amongst the best decisions I have ever made

The problem with getting leathered on Pernod is that you wake up with the worst hangover you have ever had and think 'I need hydration' before drinking a pint of water and starting the whole process up again.
