But surely, the authorities in countries where people have died, have a responsibility to investigate the possible connection to the AZ vaccine? The death toll from Covid is very low here in Norway and several people have died after having the vaccine. I would be very concerned if the government just said, "Well if it's good enough for the UK, it's good enough for us." |
They are investigating and that's clearly the right thing to do.
I think we need to be careful in saying "several people have died after having the vaccine" as whilst that is factually correct it also implies a correlation which hasn't yet been confirmed. It may be confirmed in time of course.
The problem at the moment is that the mechanism put forward by researchers (including those from Norway) to explain the events wouldn't just be restricted to the AZ vaccine, we would see the same thing with other vaccines as pointed out by the US medical regulator. More understanding is definitely needed.
Having said that, if I was offered the AZ vaccine today then I would take it.
