From those having the AZ jab. Still very rare but still concerning. Suspect the view will stay that the positive outweigh the negative. Interesting the Germany refusing to give to under 65s as clots less likely in older population.

When your vaccine is dominating the vaccine distribution and costs £3 vs £20+ for the others, it wouldn’t do any harm to run it down a bit would it?

Can I just say that the fact this statement of fact gets down votes is ridiculous. As is talk of well it is better than covid as some sort of rebuttal. There was no mention of this after the trials, what other long term surprises are in store? Furthermore does anyone else wonder what the cumulative effect of annual top ups of vaccine on platelet levels might be! Just don't mention guinea pig.

Is there any vaccine that is totally risk free for any disease? Given that the effects of this pandemic are globally catastrophic, and what is certain that in a huge majority it prevents loss of life, why should people want to denigrate it?

The world has gone a bit ding dong since 24 hour news and social media.

No one uses their brain anymore and there are so many media outlets.

Generally people just read the publications that they agree with and then like a load of arses they post these links on other forums and social media platforms and think that they have proved their argument.

Few people read beneath the headlines and few people read things that will counter argument their opinion.

You're spot on here.

"There was no mention of this after the trials, what other long term surprises are in store?"

It wasn't seen in the trial and it's not a long term surprise. The vaccines haven't been long term yet. Your point could be made about any vaccine, none of them have long term trials in the way you want.

"Furthermore does anyone else wonder what the cumulative effect of annual top ups of vaccine on platelet levels might be!"

You totally ignore context. Look at the number of jabs given and look at the cases. You are literally more likely to be struck by lightning so perhaps it's best you never go outside again just to eliminate that risk?

You never take context into account, just the worst case. However you don't apply that to everything, only the subjects that suit your narrative.

If it turns out you can be genetically predisposed to clotting via the disease or the vaccine then I know the choice I would make.

Go on then, what choice would you make?

Because it's not as simple as that. The spike protein loads are different and it's much more likely with the actual virus than a smaller vaccine load.

It's also not been confirmed what the mechanism is at the moment so this is jumping the gun.

If there was a genetic test to show a predisposition then I would not take the vaccine. As things currently stand if I had a daughter on the pill who would likely never know she had covid I would strongly encourage her to avoid a vaccine too. You?

Absolutely I would encourage anyone to take the vaccine. We are in a global crisis , and, at the moment , it is the best, if not the only way, out.

Do women on the pill get struck more often? Do you think the sample selection considered this cohort?
(Delete long term from that first sentence...)so we don't know cumulative impacts, do you think this will be trialled before multiple vaccines are administered?
I will continue to avoid climbing ladders during lightning storms.
Your last sentence is just made up to suit your narrative.

The Germans response is not just interesting but baffling.
Over 65's in the UK are prone to blood clots so like me, they're prescribed a blood thinner. I was prescribed Warfarin 'cos I had a blood clot.
About 1.5million oldies in the UK are on Warfarin or similar as a preventative measure to stop blood clots. Oldies who smoked (me) and ate a bad fatty diet (everyone) have clogged arteries, so the blood needs to be thinner to get round.
Getting a blood clot is not a death sentence. You might have a leg or arm amputated if it's stuck in a limb and can't be removed. If it's in the brain then you might suffer brain damage.
I turned up at A and E on Sunday at midnight and the NHS sorted it.
But the NHS doesn't work on weekends I hear you say? Pull the other one.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Fine.
It was 10 years ago.
The clot was in my left arm anyway so even if the worst had happened I'd have been alright. I'm right-handed, as if you hadn't guessed.

Yes I would encourage her to take the vaccine.

The risk of clotting is already increased on the pill regardless of if there had never been any Covid or vaccines:

https://www.stoptheclot.org/about-clots/webinar_contra/birth_control_clots/

Would you have told your daughter not to take the pill given this very small risk that exists?

If the answer is no then your entire stance on the vaccines is hugely hypocritical. If it's yes then you are so risk adverse you should probably never leave your house or do anything given the number of bad things which can happen every day which are orders of magnitude more likely.

My daughter is, of course, very sensible and can make her own informed decisions.
Could you explain my stance on vaccines to me please...I am fairly sure it involves comprehensive risk analysis and openness.
I try to alleviate risk whenever I leave the house...I have found this is best served by not unquestioningly swallowing mainstream narratives.

Hang on.

You just said that you would encourage her to avoid the vaccine due to unconfirmed clotting but you wouldn't advise her not to have the pill even though that has confirmed clotting issues?

I think you've laid your bias out clearly for everyone to see in your last few posts.

I do think that using the main stream media trope is very poor form. I don't want to continually argue with you on this subject but that also requires you not to push things which are biased or unfounded.

Morning Stokie, it is a bit early to work out what "..wouldn't advise her not to..." means but I am fairly sure that what I actually said was that I would allow her to make her own informed choice based on the maximum information. Until yesterday people had been suggesting their had been pretty much no examples of clotting and low platelet counts here.

Edit...PS, we all have biases Stokie, some of us are happy to admit it.

The post is clear - go back and read your original post.

You said one thing about the pill and another about the vaccine even though only the pill has confirmed clotting issues.

You don't admit it though, you're not even admitting it this time even though it's clearly written there.

All that is clear is that you have inferred what you want to in order to confirm your bias.

Edit ...to be clear, weigh up the risk and act accordingly...currently that would result in no vaccine and no pill. But that would just be advice, the choice would obviously be hers.

Seems to me it's a simple choice

Take the vaccine and your odds of dying decrease, the odds of other people dying decrease and quality of life for yourself, and most other people, increases

Don't take the vaccine and your odds of dying increase, the odds of other people dying increase and quality of life for yourself, and most other people, remains naff

It's a no brainer

But surely, the authorities in countries where people have died, have a responsibility to investigate the possible connection to the AZ vaccine? The death toll from Covid is very low here in Norway and several people have died after having the vaccine. I would be very concerned if the government just said, "Well if it's good enough for the UK, it's good enough for us."
