During lockdown a group of us have been setting certain football quizes/games for each other - best International XI with only one from each country allowed, best England team with only one from each club etc.
So, something to mull over - what's your best Town XI.
Some rules:
Only one player from each nation allowed (1 English, 1 Dutch etc)
You can play any recognised formation (442, 433, 532 etc), but must have players in their recognised positions (no Kevin Beattie as Centre Forward).
Some of us older folks can remember further back than others, but let's see what you've got...

If I was going that way I think it'd be Muhren on the wing. Can we class Holland as Irish? I've been a bit strict and avoided loanees too, otherwise it might be ol' Johnny Two Saints out wide and keep Thijssen in the middle, which I think is imperative really.

Two positions got me thinking... CB. Was Thomsen good? I was young when he played and can barely remember. Would Sergey Baltacha be a better option.
The other consideration was Shefki Kuqi (Finland). Pablo had better hold up play, whilst Kuqi won more in the air. In the end I thought Pablo would suit Phillips better. If I had Shefki and Ted up front, they'd either be a lot of goals or the keeper would have sore hands.
Obviously some was from memory, some was from history and the way other people remembered and described them. I felt we needed at least one player from the league winning season. And opted for Phillips from what people said. |  |
