Happy to say that the club have lost their mind 11:41 - May 13 with 3046 viewsgordon

If we sorted out the fitness situation and had most of our team available for most of our games, we'd easily have got two more wins to get us into the play-offs. Add in not being managed by Lambert who was awful, that's probably another two wins from somewhere. Add in another two good attacking players and an upgrade at centre-half, that's another couple of wins and we're challenging for automatic promotion.

The 'demolition man' stuff is Cook on an ego trip, nothing more nothing less. It's Paul Hurst on steroids, for me.

Nothing like giving the bloke a chance.

And as for 'demolition man' - the only player he's let go so far that's slightly controversial for me is Nydam.

If KVY and Norwood had been fit for the whole of last season and we'd had one really decent attacking midfielder / winger, we'd easily have been challenging for automatic promotion. It's just totally unnecessary, in my opinion, and more about Cook than what's best for ITFC.

Problem is, they weren't fit, we didn't have a good winger and we realistically came no closer than a vague chance of scraping into the playoffs towards the end of the season. We've been living off ifs, buts and nearlys for quite a long time.

If you have an old car which does a reasonable MPG but keeps breaking down, do you spend money on getting each thing fixed, maybe with cheap parts from a scrapyard, or consider replacing the whole vehicle?

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Yes, I can completely understand why Cook is making these decisions from his personal perspective - I'm just gobsmacked that after the mess Hurst caused, the club is willing to give a manager such leeway to gut the club again.

Because it may take radical surgery to reverse the damage Hurst did.

Why/how on earth would/could it have been down to Cook that KVY & Norwood weren't fit? We had a fitness coach who'd fallen out with Lambert & had as a result been sent home to Scotland, where he was expected to do the job remotely. A "fitness coach" do the job remotely?! 😂 That has to be one of the most bizarre decisions in professional football, it was entirely down to Lambert & Evans, & just one of the very good reasons why most of us are delighted to have seen the back of that old regime.

At least the new owners seem to have some sort of comprehension of the importance of a decent Sports Science Dept., and have said improving this at ITFC is one of the areas they're focussing on.

Yes, just think having the manager tell your whole squad they can leave because he has a bruised ego about messing up on getting into the play-offs is the kind of thing we should be moving away from as a club.

This makes absolutely no sense. What's best for ITFC is also what's best for Cook, given he's the manager!

Agreed re Nydam. But even then, we have to assume that Cook is close enough to have concerns about something, especially after his comments about his positive attitude.

Yeah. I only said that because I personally rate Nydam from the little I've seen.

People seem to be getting their knickers in a twist about stuff that hasn't happened.

Just thought that the club would be a little bit more cautious given what happened under Hurst.

One big difference that people don't seem to have mentioned yet. Hurst got rid of three or four good/top Championship performers. Cook will be getting rid of a shower of sh#te.

I know you were only doing a metaphor but I've just had that exact example. Last time was £400 worth of repairs and then it broke down again... so I said "no more." Got a new car being delivered today and the old one I've sold for scrap. Seems to be what Cook/Gamechanger are doing!

He's making the players pay for his failure to get the team up.

He's making the players pay for his failure to get the team up.

Or, alternatively, he's making the players pay for their own failures for the past few seasons? I suppose it depends on your agenda.

But the 'Club' when Hurst was here was in fact Evans. The Club now is a completely different beast. It's our new owners supporting this and I'll bet not just Cook making these decisions, but the Chairman and incoming CEO as well.

I think the crucial difference is that Hurst dumped a group of players that were scoring goals in the Championship. And replaced them with a team that didn’t score. I can’t recall the number of goals scored by Waggy etc..

We now have a team that doesn’t score enough goals in League 1.
I think only two teams scored less than us, both were relegated.

Have at it PC, if he replaces a team capable of scoring 46 goals in L1, with one that can get 60-80, I don’t see that as a problem.

It would be tricky to get a new team to score less.

It may work, look at Blackpool and Lincoln both finished above us ( we even doubled Blackpool) but both teams started from scratch this season. Of course it might not work but we now have a manager and off field support that demand success.

Nydam was a risk to take on for a year when he’s been injured and season before didn’t do anything at St Johnstone. We are not a charity and no longer should we take a punt just in case we ended up with nearly over 50 pros as we kept extending contracts just in case.

If we end up with a 20 man squad filled with vert good players at this level you'll come back and say you were wrong? Seems odd to go so early on this.

Truly impaired.

oh dear!

You really think that's all it is. This club has been rotten for 15 years!

I for one am glad so much is going to change. It needs tearing up and a reset. I'm delighted PC is doing that...he was always my choice and i'm more convinced by him every day. He knows....i think he was a bit shocked at how bad...but he knows what needs doing
