I shun most things political and the like on here these days because it's pointless.

Hooever - The BBC / Diana / Bashir thing is absolutely mind blowing.

It's a genuine Gate!!

Oh don't be so daft Swansea, this is massive. It's not just about Bashir it's about the BBC cover up that has been revealed in the Dyson report.

Dianas death is a direct result of this, absolutely.

Diana, a vulnerable women, was told so many lies that she refused protection because she was led to believe everyone was conspiring against her. If she still had protections she would absolutely never have been allowed to get into that car.

Now here is something else for you to choke on, if it hadn't been for some genuinely brilliant journalism by The daily Heil it may never have surfaced.

The more you read into this the bigger it becomes.

In fairness I did say it was about the BBC cover up.

I suspect the tabloid press who hounded her mercilessly for years are every bit as complicit as Bashir and the BBC in her death.

"he refused protection because she was led to believe everyone was conspiring against her. If she still had protections she would absolutely never have been allowed to get into that car."

Her police protection officer was the only one to survive the car crash, he was also the only one wearing a seatbelt.

The BBC and Bashir come out of this badly but to draw a straight line from this to here death is to ignore an enormous number of other factors - the attitude of the Royal family, the tabloid press, the photographers pursuing the car on the night she died, even down to the drunk driver.

No.

She did not have the same protection as she had before. She was previously under the guidance of the Metropolitan Police protection officers and they would not have let her get into that car.

I have never questioned the sometimes deplorable actions of the tabloid press.

I am criticising the holier than though BBC. Not everything is about taking sides. If you cannot see the scale of this then you haven't read Dysons report.

Bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was seriously injured in the 1997 crash & he was also not wearing a seat belt. He was employed by Mohamed Fayed at the time.

Looks like a wonderful chance for the govt to take another bite at the beeb too. Revenge is sweet. This looks a real lovely 'three-for' actually - everyone else can wash their hands of any wrong-doing too, plus a nice distraction from the Indian variant.

I can't believe peoples acceptance in this.

At least when The NOTW were caught phone hacking Murdoch closed the paper.

Murdoch closed the NOTW for financial rather than altruistic reasons. It had become a toxic brand, damaging to his empire. He also immediately replaced it with a Sunday edition of The Sun, employing many of the same journalists.

I wasn't particularly interested in Diana either way but I recognise that her life was made hell by the press.

And her younger son is complaining about it, after deciding to create a new life as a professional celebrity. I'd guess Harry isn't too bright.

Didn’t he also close down the NOTW to shift attention away from his baby ‘The Sun’? A tactic which seemed to work.

Fecking holy what?

He was supposed to be one of the good guys wasn't he?

Corrupt as hell then. I wasn't aware things went this deep.

I've been obliviously humming and singing along to John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles and the like for the past couple of hours.

Not sure what you found disagreeable here Vic.

Bashir has admitted doctoring paperwork with the sole aim to con people. I'd say that's corrupt wouldn't you?

Or do you have an irritational dislike of JLH/Ray Charles's music?!

The press hounded his mother into a state of paranoia and then when Harry met Meghan, they hounded them too. Why shouldn't he complain?

I thought he was the only one in the car who was wearing a seat belt?

Non important fact, T RJ later worked in Lagos, I met him a couple of times (2010ish) in a sports bar. He had dropped the Jones from his name, I was told so he could get on with his life without everyone asking "Are you the TRJ who..."

Nice enough bloke, defo liked a drink.

I should not believe some folks acceptance of a very one sided story.

There is a vast difference between this and the systemic phone tapping by the NOTW carried out over years.

Diana was no 'innocent abroad' as her behaviour over the weeks priorto her death, and the medias reaction will show.

This is little more than part of the Ginger Tom and Mrs Sparkle blub fest - with ginge now claiming his mothers death led to his drinking.

I wonder what the Mail would have to say about that if it was offered up as a defence by one of those involved in the past few days disturbances in Swansea

But this: "I should not believe some folks acceptance of a very one sided story", isn't a view.

It is corrupt. There are no 'sides' to it.

Bashir is/was a journalist - maybe the same as those now howling to the moon in self righteous piety who hacked the phones of murdered 13-year-old girl or the shtbag '“Defund the BBC,” was last night’s pontification from former Sun editor Kelvin Mackenzie, who once put Diana’s covertly recorded private phone calls on a premium-rate line so readers could ring in and have a listen.'

As the death came after the Sundays had gone to press, it should be worth remembering what the hypocrite had printed about the woman a few hours before.
