Who cuts the grass on a Sunday 08:39 - May 30 with 6213 views | BlueBlueBluex2 | 08:30 on a BH Sunday morning and I can hear someone in my village cutting the grass. Is there some old law which means I can hit him with a pitchfork?

I am a little old fashioned. I would not consider cutting my grass on a Sunday (or a BH Monday of course) but I appreciate that people do not always time in the week. Would not mind but the chap doing it is retired....

Because you have better things to do? Or because you wouldn't want to disturb the neighbours?

I would not want to disturb my neighbours, that’s the only reason.

How are those pigeons getting along with your grass seed?

Tuning in with internet now as I'm hoping to overseed my lawn this weekend, unless the mrs has other plans for me. My cunning plan is to use foil milk bottle tops on twine strung between garden canes. No idea if it'll work.

So some success (On my part - not the pigeons) I put some fertiliser over the seed - trampled it down - and bits seem to be taking now. So mixed some fertiliser and seed together and did the same on some other patches - before running out of seed. Now got big new bag of seed and fertiilser so ready to go again. But figured I wait until the forecast had some likely showers ahead - so maybe later in the week. So lawn is now a mix of bare patches, fertiliser patches, new grass and old grass :-) Also bought some fleece so may try some of that if any bits don't take. Cheers

That looks interesting cheers. Must admit I hadn't looked into it, but I've spent plenty of effort already moss killing, raking, scarifying. So £30 to guarantee a job well done would be well worth it. (although I'd probably need 3 lol, but still cheaper than all the seeds, fertiliser, etc). [Post edited 30 May 2021 10:09]

Shot gun. I reckon before 9am on a Sunday is the best time to shoot the fckers, they are still half asleep. During the week they are more on their toes due to traffic. Sunday is defo the best day. Or a bank hol for similar reasons.

You do realise if your neighbours see you 'overseeding your lawn' they'll call the police?

I've always fancied hunting with a hawk like a medieval lord. Obviously I'd need a few peasants to look after the thing and to serve my every whim, but I'm sure there's plenty of those knocking around in south Wales who'd be happy to be thrown a few pigeons for the pot every once in a while.

They're fine. We've had pampas grass in the front garden for years, so they know what to expect.

I'd have been much more impressed if you had been mowing at 4.30 pm this morning. If Bully/Sparks still posted I would have said that you were in danger of hell fire because of your desecration of the Sabbath. However as that's nonsense and he's gone there's no point, so I won't even mention it.

This calls for a "best excuses to sit down & have a beer" true stories thread of its own.
