Booing taking the knee AGAIN!? on 20:13 - Jun 6 by Pinewoodblue | I don’t think it was the subject matter that was regarded as abuse but the language used is certainly unacceptable on a site used by younger people. To my mind the original post needs to be removed. If you can’t post without using such language then quite frankly you shouldn’t be allowed to post at all. I don’t personally have any feelings either way regards taking a knee but booing players for doing so is wrong. On the question of taking a knee this has fallen out of favour in most of Europe,. Watched a number of games recently, but not today’s, can’t recall any teams apart from England and Wales doing it. Not seen any teams do it in the U21 competition. Time to move on, find another way to highlight the issues. [Post edited 6 Jun 2021 20:14]

Surely this thread should be in the football section though?

Booing taking the knee AGAIN!? on 19:04 - Jun 6 by SpruceMoose | It's a culture of accountability. It's a culture of respect. It's a culture of empathy. It's a culture of actions having consequences. No wonder there are plenty who don't like it. |
We used to call that being a good person. TWTD.

Booing taking the knee AGAIN!? on 18:05 - Jun 6 by J2BLUE | Drowned out by applause. Again. Hopefully at Wembley the decent people outnumber the morons from the start and they don't get to make their sad little stand. |
My solution would be to use the CCTV footage to identify several of those booing, identify them and ban them from football matches for an appropriate period.

I'm struggling to find ny other motivation for objection to a gesture which says 'there should be less racism in society' other than racism, tbh. [Post edited 6 Jun 2021 20:44]

It's only 'political' if your politics is bound up in being racist.

No, racists think it's a political statement. And stupid racists do too. Everyone else doesn't.

They could be incredibly thick and not realise they’re being racist apologists? Maybe Southgate used long words when he explained why they’re taking the knee.

Booing taking the knee AGAIN!? on 20:16 - Jun 6 by noggin | Seems like taking the knee is doing a very good job of highlighting the issue. The issue is right there in the stands. |
Theron lies the rub and Lee Anderson the Tory MP saying it might upset “traditional football fans” is basically saying it’ll upset racist. Southgate is handling this excellently. If it’s upsetting people it’s demonstrating the issue we are concerned about is still an issue.
