Something a bit different to the talk and excitement about Engurland
But ‘Hunting Hitler’ On Amazon Prime.. anyone watched it / watching it?
I’ve got to say it is absolutely fascinating TV. As a bit of context it’s off the back of declassified files in 2014 showing the FBI had multiple open investigations into the whereabouts of Hitler long after the war. Sightings, testimonies etc. and a team have been piecing them together to see their credibility.
They also get access to declassified MI6, Stasi etc. files which corroborate a lot of the leads.
Like I say absolutely fascinating stuff and certainly a lot to ponder 🤔
Your definitely correct about how the program would have more integrity if it focused purely on Nazis who probably did escape to South America. I think the other comments made by that pathologist/osteoarchaeologist bring anything else they say into serious doubt. If I received an osteo report saying that I would instantly bin it and get a 2nd opinion.
Indeed, we know Eichmann made it to Argentina and lived there because the Israelis grabbed him and took him back to Israel in 1960.
Fair point on the article, it was just the first one I found to highlight there is evidence he died in the bunker (contrary to the show).

The Argentina connection is interesting. I know that quite a few proto-Fascist communities were started over there before the war but think most of them failed. Wonder how much those networks were responsible for helping them into hiding?
Nietzsche's sister and her husband were amongst the first to try and establish something there, iirc. She also heavily edited his works after he went mad and then popularised them among the far right at the time. But reading Nietzsche too literally and without a sense of humour can lead to catastrophic things, as we found out.

Watched it all a while ago. Certainly intereresting, not from the Hitler bit, but mainly from the aspect of how entrenched Naziism was in South America and the size of the network there.

To be honest Stokie, that article highlights a serious problem amongst professionals and academics in these kinda professions. The pressure put on archaeology and osteoarchaeology lecturers to raise there own and their university's profile via tv and other media often ends with them being put in ludicrous positions, such as trying to identify Hitler from a couple of teeth. Good example would be if you were say a expert in medieval cemeteries. You may put forward a proposal for a documentary say on the diseases of medieval London. This would probably get dismissed instantly. But if yer university is still encouraging you to raise your profile your proposal eventually becomes ' proof of vampires discovered in medieval London' an you get a 60 minute slot on channel 5
If you want informed work on Nazis after the war, I suggest reading Hunting Evil by Guy Walters. The Hunting Hitler series has been debunked even by people who appear in it!
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
Müller was far from being such a prominent figurehead as Himmler, Goering and the like, let alone Hitler himself.
He was last reliably heard of in Berlin in 1945, thus there is a strong likelihood he died in the fall of the city the following day (or committed suicide, as many of the trapped senior nazis did). There were a lot of dead bodies in Berlin, most of whom were never formally identified. He may not have been wearing his own uniform or carrying correct identity papers if trying to escape. Neither the Americans nor the Soviets appear to have known anything of his whereabouts after that date. There are just vague, unsubstantiated rumours.
I'm Good friends with one of the members of Hunting Hitler
It's not perfect but the dental records evidence certainly lends creditability to the fact he didn't escape.
As I said, it would be much better if they focused on high level Nazi's who almost certainly did escape to and live in Argentina but I guess that doesn't draw in so many people to watch.

maybe this nazi dentist altered hitlers dental records

The book Hanns and Rudolf by Thomas Harding is a fascinating read.
