If we’re offering £600k for him, we must be somewhere close to what they’re asking for him - which I suspect is £1m. Whilst it’s easy to say ‘just Chuck £1m at them, that’s hardly good business practice.
I suspect a deal will get done at around £800k with add ons. Just a lot of noise from Warne who clearly doesn’t want to lose him to a promotion rival, but knows that he will because of how close are bids are too matching valuation.
If we get him, great, if we don’t, then I’m sure we’ve got plenty of other targets who are equally as good. |  |

Ashton and co will have a better idea than us
1) whether the championship interest is serious enough
2) Crooks own view
It will depend on these 2 factors as to whether we get Crooks, less so the extra money to get him.
A compromise will be reached on price in the end…….we wont pay the £1m or whatever Rotherham are holding out for, neither will other suitors, is my guess. |  |

We've bought seven players so far, and we are targeting another four according to Ashton. Let's say we "quibbled" over every transfer and saved 100k fee per transfer, or 100k in wages for the loans, then that's 1.1m saved and enough to get one or two more transfer fees done at this level.
