Don't think the song needs to be 'upbeat' but rather have a hook that can be easily adopted and sung. YNWA is hardly a rave.
YNWA is a bit different though isn't it, something that grew organically and has been a tradition for almost 60 years.
We don't have that, so there's no point trying to emulate it. Get something going to get people on their feet, excited rather than melancholy about what they might be about to see!
"Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
It absolutely does. Lyrics are so ridiculously poinient for the amount of suffering we've had to go through over the years - 'nothing left to lose' etc. Even builds to a bit of a chorus crescendo which would be good for the walk out music i've always thought.

Indeed. I've been championing this for ages. I don't get the people who say it's melancholy or not uplifting - it's about taking the knocks but getting back up and fighting on regardless. And as it builds to the chorus it certainly is uplifting.
I'd love our players to go out there with a nothing to lose, everything to gain mentality. That suggests attacking football!
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Possibly, would need to re-work the lyrics as the original version is a loser's lament about being badly treated by life. Would be better if it was more of a rallying call about how we can triumph over adversity.

walk out would be ideal but i think the other proposal as end of game if we win is possible as well.
