He's 1.7m on Wikipedia, 1.78m on transfermarkt, 1.68m on whoscored, 1.78m on wyscout. Still growing maybe?

Hi BFC fan here.

He's definitely not 5ft 10, even stood on a chair yet he's scored some impressive headers!

The 31 starts doesn't tell the true story, the old coach liked to substitute all 3 strikers on 60 mins so all of our 6 main strikers got a lot of game time last season. A lot of the time he would start with a weaker 3 and then bring on the better strikers to finish teams off, judging by the league position it worked. With the number of substitutes available going back to normal Chaplin will find he's the 4th/5th choice striker. Last season the best three were Dike, Morris and Woodrow, had we not changed the substitutions rule those three would have started 90% of the games.

But l think he would still be a great option for us off the bench at this level but it seems his opportunities are limited (we are about to announce a new striker signing). He will be a great addition to any league 1 side and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't hit 20 goals. His attitude has been first class at Oakwell and a privilege to have had him.

Great insight, cheers mate. And best of luck to Barnsley for the new season, have had a soft spot for your lot ever since the play off final in 2000. Every Barnsley fan I met that day was top class.

You're better off looking at chances created. A chance created and then missed doesn't give you the assist, which makes your stats look less impressive.

If you create 50 chances for Harry Kane, chances are you'll end up with more assists then creating 50 chances for Leon Best.

It's all pretty meaningless mumbo jumbo given the almost limitless number of variables involved in this nonsense.

Team A has three shots off target - all from less than 10 yards out, and all end up in row Z.

Team B has three shots off target all from 25 yards out, all miss by inches.

Same number appear in the 'stats', which tell you absolutely nothing. Watching the game will tell you all you need to know.

Don’t agree with this at all. It’s patently obvious that ‘chances created’ does provide a useful insight beyond simply looking at assists. I don’t think your example fits the point that was being made.

IMO when "watching the game" people just filter everything they're seeing through the subjective opinion they'd already formed of the player.

31 starts for a side that finished 5th in the Championship. This would be a ridiculous bit of business for us. Only 24 as well.

Although several of the BFC fans seem to suggest that they often started with the weaker forwards and subbed them after about 60 mins for the better ones. Not sure how that works or what sort of manager intentionally picks his weaker players to start with, but there you go! I agree with you though that any player who played in 31 championship games for one of the top teams in the champ last season is likely to significantly strengthen our team in Div 3.
