We’d have at least 10 points by now with this squad if Big Mick was in charge 19:00 - Aug 21 with 3957 viewsCopfordBlue

Best manager we’ve had since Sir Bobby but he only got a fraction of the backing of Keane or Cook.

The more time that passes since he left, the greater his achievements seem. The football was unwatchable towards the end but in terms of getting the most out of his resources he was brilliant.

Football unwatchable yet great achievement? What utter nonsense.

It became unwatchable because it was the only way he could compete and get results with the meagre resources he had. If he’d had a decent squad and budget the football would have been decent. There weren’t many complaints about the style of football when he took us into the play offs. We were punching above our weight then when comparing our squad to those who finished below us.

You don't know much about Mick football do you lol, his football has never been one to watch. Not saying it didn;t work for him at times but nice to watch it never has been.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

To be fair had Mccarthy stayed we wouldn't be in this awful league in the first place.

The OP is correct in that we'd be much better off with MM in charge but its a pointless thing to contemplate when MM isn't going to manage in the third tier.

Is MM a better manager than Cook? Obviously, doesn't even need mentioning.

Not sure I should be replying to a message that contained “lol” (did you really laugh out loud at your post ?) but I will. Our fantastic first goal yesterday, the best goal we have scored in a long time , was McCarthy football. A long direct pass. Route one or hoofball if you prefer. I loved it.

What on earth is the point of "if" tho? And many more fans would have stopped going had he stayed anyway. People go to watch in person for the excitement & entertainment. We can get the results sitting at home in our armchairs if they were all that mattered.

If we languish in the third tier we will have the same amount if not even less fans than the end of McCarthy era.

I'm sure some people like to see us lose (or not win anyway) so they can bring up the "Mick was great" card.

Mick had his time but it was time for him to go at the end. People seem to forget the bad times with him. I'm sure at one point we went 7 or 8 league games at home without scoring a goal?

Who wants to watch goals? 0-0 draws all the way please - 46 0-0's and we could still have been in the Championship TWTD
