Seen a few MK Dons fans saying they were refusing them entry unless wearing a mask - even going as far as making them go to the shop to buy one. Apparently they did eventually buckle and let them in when the group was around 150 bro by refused entry.

Seems strange for the club to be that pushy for away fans but not really fussed for the rest of us. Any thoughts?

One example below:

Edit - Also interesting on that read to see the MK fan is confident we were good enough to be up there come May.

I'm pretty sure there have been many reports of our away stewards being unnecessarily heavy handed over the years. Doesn't sound like much has changed.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

There is no legal requirement for masks, though the club is of course like any outlet entitled to make it a condition of entry.

For practical reasons that should be made crystal clear before a ticket is purchased but that isn't always possible, lots of fans won't be reading the various club announcements online.

So again, for practical reasons I'd think the club could simply have a box full and ask fans who don't have one to wear one? Anything else will only descend into a confrontation and ultimately the stewards back down and the maskless get in anyway.

Funny because when I joined the SBR queues no one was wearing a mask!

Cant comment on the mask fiasco, but the guy who wrote that report seems like a bit of a t1t

Whilst all a bit silly, who doesn't just have a crappy mask in their back pocket for these kind of instances.

Not sure I believe it anyway but they wouldn't do that if we were playing West Ham, Spurs etc

It was my first game and was told by my mate I didn’t need to even think about COVID. At the gate everyone was being asked to show proof of being double jabbed. And because he’d bought my ticket so it was in his name I was even asked for photo I’d to confirm my double jab card. Is this the standard practice?

It’s supposed to be, yes.

At the Morecambe game it was very light touch. Yesterday was a bit more robust. It probably depends what queue you are in and whether the stewards can be bothered to do their job properly or not.

Was very strict (everyone's Covid status asked for, ID checked and masks asked to be worn if not on) at the Newport game in the League Cup, probably due to a combination of the smaller crowd enabling it and the Morecambe game being a bit of a fiasco. There's a chance people may be caught out at a game if they aren't prepared for it.

I overheard an argument between the stewards and some MK fans when I walked past at 2ish about masks.

Stewards are a bunch of wannabe and failed police officer candidates who get off on the very little bit of power that they have. Total w*nkers!

Exactly…it’s not rocket science is it! It’s madness to travel any distance without one whatever you think about the rights and wrongs of being made to use them.

Or they are a group of people who give up their time to help a club most of them support. They are simply enforcing what the club dictates to them. Sure, you get a couple who are heavy handed, but in the main they do a good job for not much appreciation.

The stewards at the turnstiles I queued up were being strict and asking for ID/Covid Proof but at the next turnstile along most walking through unchallenged.

About 8 of us walked through unchallenged around 1458.

Didn’t see a soul wearing a mask under the stand.

Don't be an eejit. The steward near where my ST was is a top bloke, really friendly. On plenty of away days I've come across some really good, friendly stewards who have helped make the matchday experience better.

I think it's probably a bit of both - but on the whole I think they're ok, especially when compared to some clubs.
