Armando Dobra 18:04 - Aug 24 with 3747 viewsWickets

I know he turned down a loan last season and i dont really have a problem with that but i do think a loan to a league 2 club could well be the way forward for him . I think he is still just 20 so needs to play to improve . I did think he was a bit unlucky to lose his place after the Burton game as he won the free kick from which Pigot scored and also was fouled for the missed penalty . You have to like him as a player but i'm worried how much game time he will get ? Cup games perhaps but as PC has decided , wrongly in my opinion, that they dont really matter that much not sure they will help him .

Barry was fouled for the pen at Burton.

Think it rather we kept him here in all honesty, although issue is how much is he likely to play I guess.

If we find him a good move, persuade him to go, tell him "you're rated here, go smash it there until January, then come back here and do the same for us", it's all good.

I can understand why so many would want him to stay and potentially be a starter.. I just think he needs 1 or 2 seasons of full season football to iron out the problems he does have with his game which will only improve with game time.

We are at that point where we need more than a developing player... that's not to say Dobra isn't a good player but he's still very raw and he can't duplicate the same mentality he has in the u23s to that of the first team as yet... the end product.

He pops up with the occasional assist, but he's currently a better version of Bennetts but lacks the effects of a dyer.. 1 or 2 seasons of 90 minutes or so a game and he will be a lethal player and one who I can see in the prem.

He is well liked by all at the club, he's begun to mature into a great man aswell as a talented footballer under the guidance of Dyer and Butcher and he just needs a really good 1/2 seasons to really push on as a player.

Dobs has always worried that a loan spell is the beginning of the end, rather than a natural route to better times. Which is understandable. How many players have we as a club sent on loan who has then come back and had a really solid career?

He needs to go to a League 1 club, if he does go out - which on balance is probably best thing for him this season

His skills are undoubted. I think L2 would maybe give him the best chance of a regular place from where to learn how to keep his head up and improve his importance and value to a team. Being in a position where a L1 team had him in and out of the starting line-up would be a waste of time.

Fair enough i got the penalty wrong but that is my point i dont think he will get enough game time but if he stays we will see .

Should go to a lower L1 club really. He's actually probably been our best player in every game he's started this season.

Cant argue with that and it seems all is going well for young Simpson at Swindon .

Part of good man management is persuading players that things are ultimately being done for their benefit, isn't it?

We've been a bit of a career morass of late, but you can point to Downes and Woolfenden both earning regular first team opportunities after a good loan spell.

The way he plays the game makes his appearences deceiving. He can excite and he can do things, but in small supply, there's a lot of running, alot of taking on players, but then nothing happens. Whereas Burns at the moment might just run into a player and nothing happens, so both have the same result but Dobra looked alot better at doing it.

Indeed it is, and it's something across the club that's been carefully managed at various levels with Dobs.

League 2 a waste of time for me, if he goes there and does well, and the season is as we hope, then it does nothing with regards to a Chanpionship club

Yeah, but Dobra gets fouled all the time as well which wins us freekicks and the other team gets yellow cards because they nip at his feet or pull him down. Edwards and Dobra should be playing together and it will create some mayhem for the other team at the very least.

I don't think he should go to L2 if L1 clubs are interested. It's better that he plays in a club that isn't likely to be fighting for relegation or for the title/promotion because I know for a fact that they won't be looking to young loan players in those situations. Wimbledon actually seems like a very good candidate.
