I think the issue for me in midfield is that we've signed three first team quality players in Harper, Evans and Carroll but seemingly with little consideration of whether either of them can play as a pair in Cook's preferred system. On the evidence so far there's not enough steel and defensive nous in our midfield options, same goes for Nolan and El Miz, hence the renewed attempts to sign Morsy. I'd rather we'd saved a chunk of the budget and a squad place by not signing one of Evans or Carroll and brought in a midfield enforcer instead. The issue is we already have a large squad now but it still lacks a bit of balance in key areas. That was also an issue last season. |  |
