For a man who doesn't make excuses... on 16:05 - Sep 10 by Herbivore | I find the way he shifts about from side to side when being interviewed REALLY irritating. There, I said it. |
Thought it was just me (getting annoyed by it as opposed to shifting from side to side obviously) . Nervous disposition me thinks

He will be going for another one unless Evans mans up quickly. I would have dumped him for Carroll until Morsy was able to start.

For a man who doesn't make excuses... on 17:00 - Sep 10 with 538 views | Bluedicea | They aren't excuses, they are statements of fact. To become an excuse, he would have to be trying to shift the blame which he isn't, he squarely puts it on his shoulders. When he starts coming out with phrases like, it's not our/my fault, it's only because of this, I'm not responsible for that/that's not in my control, etc. Those phrases are excuses. What he is doing is acknowledging the realities of the situation and telling us to remain patient. Football fans and society in general, have little patience, we are used to instant things nowadays and too often hear excuses for things, so we actively seek people to blame. Whereas if we remain patient and look at how most things are progressing, we are supporting that growth, while condemning people only brings disunity and fear, which increases the chances of mistakes and poor results.

For the most I agree but there is a tipping point over and above words He’s got time I’m sure but the natives could be very restless soon

For a man who doesn't make excuses... on 14:50 - Sep 10 by chrismakin | I just want to hear a manager speak positively about an upcoming game Don't care if we have 11 injuries, see it as a chance for the other 11 to get the win and stake their claim for the shirt........ We keep hearing run towards adversity, well all we're hearing is we can't run towards it as we keep moving backwards. Rather than, oh it's tough old life at the moment |
All managers show respect to the opposition in their pre-match comments. Don't give them any quotes to stick on their dressing room door. Especially when most teams will want to raise their game against us anyway - showing arrogance in public will not help out cause. [Post edited 10 Sep 2021 17:52]

Oh totally, and there has been a couple of points where he did verge on that tipping point last season, you could feel and understand his frustration though. The problem most managers have is, you really can't say much because you don't want to give anything away, so there's only limited football items you can discuss in any interview. It's why 90% of managers, constantly repeat themselves or use some catch phrases over and over, ad nauseam, because other than stating the obvious stuff, you're just providing the opposition information that could help them.

You can still respect the opponents. Burley was a master at it. Respectful but acknowledging that his job was to boost the players and the fans not tread carefully into fixtures. Always positive.. about Ipswich and if we play our way To our strengths it will put us in a good position to get a win.

Paul Cooks persona, honesty, messaging and interview content… on 11:05 - Sep 11 with 308 views | unstableblue | … is not the problem His words and messaging are I always think open, honest, insightful and I think accurate and reflective of what we have seen on the pitch. He’s probably our best manager at this aspect since Royle Where we should be questioning Cook is how he is setting up, training and motivating the team. He has an excellent set of players now, and we’ve seen some lovely glimpses of his system, and I liked the Carrol system shift a few weeks back. But now we have to see the system firing and getting 3 points. Question him on this, not his media persona and messaging.
