Isn't it depressing that things like this play successfully to a significant part of the population? Significant enough to get people like him elected anyway. To borrow a line, 'what happened to the love and the values of humanity'?
He has no interest in Ipswich, and doesn't even seem to like people very much in general — his biggest concern is parroting this awful dogwhistling nonsense fed down from up high. Ipswich deserves better: at the next election he needs to be shown the door, never to return.
